Holy shit. I didn't realize Holloway's production exploded this much. And all he wanted was what, 2M from the Oilers? How in the world to you let him walk for that little?
Holloway was absolutely beast mode in the last 15-20 or so games.
STL basically got a top line player for 3rd round pick and 2.29mil

yes it's truly insane.
Actually had Oiler fans arguing with me about this in the summer when i said i couldn't believe how they would be willing to lose so much play driving and speed and a developing top4 Dman and then i thought Skinner and Arvidsson would at least score 40-50pts a piece.
It's been an absolute disaster. Nothing like refusing to trade your 1st round picks to get rid of crippling contracts and get useful players to try and win then developing them get them right to the point where they are going to help huge and then lose them for a couple much worse picks
They have actually sabotaged 2 of the best players of a generation from winning. its actually kinda sad

I believe Holloway was looking for $1.5-$1.8 mill per. Edm was offering like low $1’s. Maybe up to like $1.2 mill or something. Figured they’d match him but they didn’t.
All we heard from the Edm board was Dylan was greedy to take the short term money, bypassing a chance to put up bigger numbers with McDavid and Drai.
If this was a straight up trade, it should cost someone's job.
Most baffling of all for me, were Broberg and Foegle. The team needed defensive help anytime they can get it, and Foegle was scoring up key goals all year.
Both just...gone.
Broberg wasn’t exactly super happy in Edm. LHD who would be asked to play the right side with Nurse if he ended up back in Edm.
Edm ends up sending a first for Walman at the tdl.
Some Oilers fans rightfully pointed out that the team got older and slower, and were worried about how things will turn out when injuries occur. But they were quickly brushed off by others.
Holloway having a career year I definitely didn't see coming. Even if this is an anomaly and he goes back to scoring at 40 pt pace it will still be a massive win for STL.

Hilarious people were calling them clear winners this off season.
They jettison’d their entire second wind behind Drai and McDavid, getting rid of a rising top 6 winger, top 4 dman, third line MU center, and respectable middle six winger, all so they could grab some old damaged good wingers.
Insanity, the fact that they don’t have a cup yet with those two elite talents is a near Jim Benning level job by their management teams.

While this is very, very unlikely, the Oilers have a history of going on long losing streaks. Somehow passing them and having them just miss would be the most hilarious result to this whirlwind of a season.

The Blues resurgence coincides with them trading for Fowler. Imagine where this team would be right now if management had attempted to fix the defence before the season was a write off, instead of trotting out Juulsen and Desharnais to lose games night after night.
