Blues, flames, and UHC all in action. Big night for the playoff push/tank

They doneThat was always the risk factor in acquiring him. And I'll maintain that Edmonton's contention window will be almost exclusively linked to how effective he can be - at least until such time as they manage to A) Get an actual goaltending solution, and/or B) Acquire another d-man who can do what he does.
Hard to imagine traveling so much at that ageIt this the end of the line for Torts? I know one thing, the media in the post-game scrums are going to miss him big-time..
You just never knew when he'd go off like Mt. Pompeii. He could be erudite one minute; and then be sarcastically mercurial the next. His back-and-forth with New York writer Larry Brooks is the stuff of post-game legend. And is still making its way around YouTube.
He'll always be cherished in Vancouver for racing down the corridor and threatening to punch out Calgary coach Bob Hartley after a brutal scrum late in a game--when the Flames coach sent his designated goons over the boards.
We probably will never see the likes to Torts or even Bruce Boudreau behind an NHL bench again. And I will miss them both.

He led to BenningHis inability to keep his cool torpedoed the Canucks' season, got Gillis fired, and brought in a decade of absolute dysfunction.
If anyone is cherishing that they have a terrible memory.
LOL! So Torts one season in Vancouver was the reason Gillis got fired and Benning was hired? From all reports at the time, it was Aquillini who forced the hiring of Torts because he felt there was a 'country-club' atmosphere developing under Vigneault. His inability to keep his cool torpedoed the Canucks' season, got Gillis fired, and brought in a decade of absolute dysfunction.

Turns 67 in June. Has a year left so likely sits out next season. Not sure where he’d land as he doesn’t want to rebuild. But what club would think he’s the guy to get them over?It this the end of the line for Torts? I know one thing, the media in the post-game scrums are going to miss him big-time..

But the Canucks core was aging out, And Torts said as much. And Gillis' time in Vancouver had run its course. He hasn't been hired as an NHL GM anywhere since. So the market has spoken.
What followed over the next decade were some of the blandest, passionless coaches in franchise history. And some of their lackluster lineups reflected it.
I'd have rather have had a coach who was driven like Torts, At least it would have made a decade of mediocrity more bearable.
Yeah, unfortunately i dont see blues losing to the predators. Flames on the other hand should lose, hopefully.Blues, flames, and UHC all in action. Big night for the playoff push/tank
And bowed out in six games against a younger, hungrier Flames team. And it was the last hurrah for the 'glory years' The Sedins stayed around for three more seasons, and they tried to plug the holes with the likes of Ryan Miller and other veterans, but their ship had sailed and they never made the post-season again.Just no. The Canucks had plenty of life in them still. They even made the playoffs the next season under Willie Desjardins.
The season was an absolute shitshow and Torts was at the center of it. He was a nuclear bomb that blew up everything.
I guess could be interesting. If Minny loses to the Capitals today, and we beat the BJs tomorrow then were three points back with the same games played. 9 to go. Still unlikely but doable, and something to keep an eye on considering the way the Blues is playing..Noone paying attention to Minny when they are the one we are going to pass for the final spot.

The day Trevor Linden and Jim Benning were hired by Aquilini, the seeds of the 'dismal decade' had been sown. Torts said the core was rapidly aging out. But nobody was in a mood to listen--especially the owner.

To be fair Bouchard allows Bouchards flaws to be exposedloving it
