Torts isn't a great coach anymore - this is at best a lateral move for the Jackets.

no.

the fact that the Blue Jackets hae to give up a 2nd round pick to Vancouver for a fired coach is obscene. He hasn't worked for 535 days. why the hell does Vancouver need the 2nd rounder.

2nd round picks "in season" should go to executives, scouting, all of that jazz that actually impact the loss. not a Torts. (Or a Carlyle).

My mindset is - if you want to keep someone make them a better offer, via a pay raise or promoting. This seems like a modern form of indentured servitude to me.

The word majority does not mean every single fan.

majority = [muh-jawr-i-tee, -jor-]

noun, plural majorities.
1.
the greater part or number; the number larger than half the total (opposed to minority ):
the majority of the population.
2.
a number of voters or votes, jurors, or others in agreement, constituting more than half of the total number.
3.
the amount by which the greater number, as of votes, surpasses the remainder (distinguished from plurality ).
4.
the party or faction with the majority vote:
The Democratic Party is the majority.
5.
the state or time of being of full legal age:
to attain one's majority.
6.
the military rank or office of a major.

It's still incredibly dumb to claim that a majority of a fanbase lacks knowledge of the game. You've never met the majority of Pens fans.

Further what grounds do you have to qualify such a statement?

Good thing for him or he would have zero goals.

Has nothing to do with the Pens board being happy with Kessel's defensive play, or thinking he's been real good on the backcheck though.

The pens board isn't the only one saying that he's improved his defensive play. Plenty of Leaf beat reporters have said similar things - ie Mirtle and Jonas.

not sure where to ask about this so I'm putting this here:

anyone else unable to go to nhl.com ?

past couple days, on two different computers, different browsers, I go to nhl.com and am re-directed to https://www.unblock-us.com/get-email?

it says they need my email address to set my service status or something like that and there's a spot to put my email and hit enter.

i really don't understand what's going on (virus?) and just wondering if this is something other people are experiencing.

Do you ever use services like Blockless to redirect your IP address or anything? My girlfriend does that to access American Netflix, and now sometimes when I try to go to NHL.com on her computer it says I can't. Not really sure why, since it's not a specific-region-only kind of website, but alas... Can be pretty frustrating.

The reporters obviously lack knowledge about the game:sarcasm:
Good to know about Kessel. I wish him all the luck in the world. It's not his fault previous management failed to put any level of decent talent around him.

hey - i am sooo against this. but if it's HERE - i think they need to revamp this. basically this rule exists because Ken Holland whined and whined and whined some more.

I think that his complaints were fair. People were hiring his AGMs out from under him, and he wanted compensation for that. Does he deserve something, or is that part of the game? I don't really care.

The issue was the implementation of the compensation. Stop rewarding picks for fired personnel, and the issue is fixed. It's dead simple

Yeah I'm using a VPN to get us netflix and bbc stuff etc.

It's not affecting any other sites I go to so not a big deal if this is why it's happening.

Running a couple malware/spyware programs just in case :shakehead

thanks for the heads up

but why ? why do you "deserve" compensation. it's like Menzinger was saying. his AGMS/assistants/assistant coaches were being hired to be GM'S and HEAD COACHES. there's only ever 30 positions of each and some people (the Lous/the Hollands) stay there forever basically.

so in my mind - complaining that your AGM wants to have a chance to run his OWN team and do things his OWN way and be in charge - makes zero sense. to me. like. generally in this situation, you can go "well i can't make you a GM - but i can give you more power etc (see Futa). some people don't do that. just let them go and train other people. get over it.

I bet I've watched more Pittsburgh games & total NHL games than Siegal or Mirtle.

That doesn't make you right, even if that's the case - it means you have a difference of opinion.

Point is, it's far from universally accepted that Kessel has been below average defensively with the Pens.

Why did they have to hire Torts? That was their call and they knew the sticker price.

Why would you try and make Kessel a board player. That absolutely isn't playing to his strengths. It was always an idiotic notion that Leaf fans had trying to make him a board player. It would be like taking a Lambo and using it to move a bed from your old house to your new house. Just dumb.

You might want to watch a guy like Patrick Kane play hockey before you call it dumb.

Patrick Kane is butter soft but he doesn't let that affect the way he engages in plays, he takes a hit to make a play, he doesn't always get space, he creates spaces for himself. Kessel is all or nothing.

Has space? Skate. Have to fight for space? Time to bail.

The only way you can win in this league today is if your star players can win puck battles and cycle the puck down low and sustain possession.

The guy is immensely talented but he is lazy. It's a fact.

He bails on every single 50/50 play. Just watch him play.

I don't get the fascination with Kessel. The guy was immensely talented but he was lazy. It's a fact.

Forgot one: See an opposing come towards you, shoot the puck asap and skate in the other direction

Pittsburghs GDT look exactly like ours last season. We might not get that 2nd 1st round pick if they keep this up.

Phil will be responsible for another coach getting fired and Crosbys slump. The Phil is spreading quickly.
