Oilers up 1-0 after one.

Vegas carried most of the play IMO. Smith looked pretty sharp.

Something is messed up in the universe - Smith and EDM are on their 5 straight scoreless period. click like to jinx (edit: oops we need EDM to win :)

I dunno, this feels akin to like this, if you dislike this YT video.
Hard to root for EDM.. its interesting that they seem to have learned how to play defensively responsible hockey... I thought they would gag at the end here and so far they have not.

I wanted to do the same thing, draft both of them. Scoring wingers have been such a disaster area for the Kings for so long and that was the chance to draft two elite shooters, one a right shot and one a left. Imagine the Kings PP for the next decade with those two firing one-timers.
They would have to learn to play the penalty kill before they’re allowed to power play

Edmonton is a wagon lately. Getting hot at the right time and getting the Mr. Hyde version of Mike Smith.

We'll see how long it lasts, but grateful for them today!

Oilers fans are desperate to play the Kings, and it's hard to blame them

Tbh, I've been saying for months I'd rather play Vegas. Their current roster is basically just ours but trading McDavid Draisaitl Kane Hyman for Eichel Patches Stone & Marchessault.

Just stylistically is a good matchup for Edmonton. If Vegas wants to run and gun we'll kill them. If they want to play a 1-3-1 counter game we can kind of just dominate them in their own zone and win like we did tonight.

The Kings on the other hand have the personnel to play a tight 1-0 game against us, which I think is far scarier than what Vegas brings to the table against the Oilers in particular.

I think the a Knights are better than the kings, mostly because they cheat, but I'm confident the Oilers would beat the kings in a playoffs series. Stylistically just an easy matchup for us.

I feel like we play the Oilers well in general, and it would be a good series in another world.

But in this world, with no Drew Doughty for a 7 game series, I think it would be Edmonton in 5. Wish we could see both teams at full strength, those are fun games that alternate between pond hockey, tight hockey, and physical hockey depending on the phase of the moon. And sometimes Quick goes nuclear on them.

That being said, I think we can all agree it's best to keep VGK out of the playoffs, even if it means Edmonton just feasts on us. I believe them when they say f*** Vegas, it's not JUST because we're soft right now

Have to agree. Our D, as surprising and good as young kids have been, just wont have the playoff experience and they will get exposed by the Oilers. Playoff hockey is a different level of intensity and mistakes always get magnified. It'll be a good series, but I'd have the Oilers in 5, maybe 6, as well.

I missed their game today but watched a lot of them recently and throughout the year. Right now both their goalies have been better and Nurse is finally playing really well.
