Zegras is an extremely exciting player, and Nurse had a nice Olympics performance.

But what is wrong with just putting a superstar player on the cover like they always used to do?

How about Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon, Roman Josi, Leon Draisaitl?
This is how he will be handled by the ducks , a fantasy star with video game shots to sell tickets while they finish next to last every year like the angels , wish we could of drafted him just for his sake at least then he would be packaged with a 1st rd pick for a trade in a year or two

Kessel doesn't even try to play defense. Zero effort these days.

Most players would be criticized for it, but with Phil it's seen as endearing.

He looks like one of the guys on your beer league team, or the local drunko who's always at the bar. It makes him kind of likeable.

I expect to see him roll into Vegas before the game, in a nice casual suit, half a hotdog in his mouth.

Cheeky little bugger w/ those silky hands.

That was pretty slick, but the goalie can't allow a player to get that close without staying at the top of the crease, or trying a poke check. He practically backed all the way into his own net.

Would that even count in th NHL? He touched it twice.
Good question. I think that the initial portion of the move of flipping the puck into the air would actually be considered as a stick handle. As long as the puck is moving forward toward the goal line it is legal. Nothing is written regarding the puck staying on the ice.

The double touching you mention definitely comes into play on a rebound. A penalty shot is considered to be taken once the goalie has touched the puck and propelled it in the opposite direction from the goal line.

Depends, they may consider the flip a loss of possession.

Although the rules are written tightly for shootouts the interpretations have been pretty loose, can't imagine anyone would have an issue with that

I don't think so, I think he was in control of the puck the entire time. The puck doesn't have to be on your stick to be in your control.
Sure, but I think going up in the air and away from the stick is not reasonably in control. Of course it would have to happen at the NHL level for us to find out how they'd rule that. But I'm not sure anyone would actually try it. NHL goalies tend to be a bit quicker than this guy.

I believe an NHL goalie would stop that easily. I think the guy demonstrated he was in control of the puck by flipping it in the air and then batting it home.

I don't think an NHL goalie necessarily stops that (if well executed by the shooter).

It's similar to a deflection. Very difficult to stop.

There's also the element of surprise. No goaltender it going to be anticipating that.
