Love these posts...the current logo/jersey is the most popular the team has ever had.

Pretty easy to measure as such when you make the others literally impossible to access.

I don't hate it as much as some others but it's pretty garbage to 'hide' the other stuff unless you know where to look and then proclaim victory.

Oh yah, I forgot the mission of the Kings is to NOT make money—don’t develop your prospects to be good players to help you win games and don’t market the most popular jerseys.

Every time they bring out the Forum Blue merchandise to sell, it goes immediately. What Luc doesn't want to see for some reason is people wearing Forum Blue and Gold at the Kings home games. He has some strange attraction to black and white based on the uniforms he wore in junior hockey.

Is that right...did that come from a specific interview or something?

If a soon to be 37 year old Stastny can give Car anything close to 22g and 48pts(his average over his last 127GP), that'll be a pretty good $1.5m spent.

Speaking of Wpg, we complain about the Kings not having a direction, but the Jets are kinda peering into the abyss right now. Not staring into it, but getting a glimpse of how deep it might be. They've done less than the Islanders this summer, still with $6m in cap space, and have at least a couple guys that already have their foot out the door. They're always on every player's NTC. Cheveldayoff is going on his 12th year. That's nothing compared to Poile, but that guy has had 2 jobs in 40-some consecutive years.

Their shot was 2018. They were loaded that year. Still pretty young overall too. Never got better though.

Turcotte will be training hard to hone his craft in the AHL four years after his draft year.
Barely old enough to buy a beer dude!

…What …do you… think …there are a bunch of 20-22 year olds… playing… key roles in the league or something!?

Do we still share an AHL affiliate with the Canadiens?

Wait a second it’s not 1998 anymore!?

Where has the time gone, what happened to my COMPAQ?

Good to see EA Sports trying to represent the 5 women who buy their nhl games

Zegras is an extremely exciting player, and Nurse had a nice Olympics performance.

But what is wrong with just putting a superstar player on the cover like they always used to do?

How about Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon, Roman Josi, Leon Draisaitl?

It comes from walking into the TeamLA store with your eyes open at any point in the last decade.

Not that empirical evidence matters to you anyway, so I kind of don't give a shit to provide stats anymore, just gonna wet fart right back at your content-less posts.

Because it's not "cool" enough to do that. I don't like any company that panders for the fringe who dont even really play their games.

Once you realize that Axl is just a facetious poster who obfuscates for the sake of doing so, it makes responding to him much easier. I don't get annoyed anymore. I just view him as that random uncle who gets smashed at the whiff of smirnoff and starts aimlessly arguing.

In my limited personal experience...

the average ticket buying audience of your average NHL team isn't huge into gaming

and your average gamer isn't huge into following an NHL team day in and day out

It's two different "markets" and two totally different products

The fact that the one product is a representation of the other product leads to people assuming they should be treated as part of the same ecosystem but they're really not

In my opinion

The EA sports cover jinx extends to hockey, right? So, I am expecting Zegras to be traumatized by a gaggle of geese in the near future so he can no longer play for a fowl team.

NHL '96: Scott Stevens + Steve Yzerman = Devils miss playoffs, Wings lose to Avs.
NHL '97: John Vanbiesbrouck = Panthers make playoffs, lose opening round.
NHL '98: Peter Forsberg = Forsberg solid season, Avs upset in opening round by Edmonton.
NHL '99: Eric Lindros = Lindros last dominant season, Flyers lose in opening round.
NHL '00: Chris Pronger = Pronger wins Hart and Norris. Blues upset in opening round.
NHL '01: Owen Nolan = Nolan misses some time to injury, Sharks lose in opening round.
NHL '02: Mario Lemieux = Lemieux misses most of season due to injury, Penguins had begun fire sale with Jagr trade in summer 2001
NHL '03: Jarome Iginla = Iginla's numbers dipped a bit
NHL '04: Dany Heatley / Joe Sakic = Heatley car accident, Sakic is replacement cover. Sakic has good season but Avs (w/Kariya and Selanne) lose in second round.
NHL '05: Markus Naslund = lockout
NHL '06: Vinny Lecavalier = Year before Vinny's career year, Tampa loses in opening round
NHL '07: Alex Ovechkin = Ovechkin gets cover after rookie season, solid sophomore campaign but Caps still stinky.
NHL '08: Eric Staal = Staal has good season but Carolina narrowly misses playoffs.
NHL '09: Dion Phaneuf = Numbers took a dip, would get traded a year later. Calgary loses in opening round.
NHL '10: Patrick Kane = no cover jinx here. Kane good season, Chicago wins Cup.
NHL '11: Jonathan Toews = Toews good season, Chicago loses opening round.
NHL '12: Steven Stamkos = Stamkos wins Rocket Richard Trophy but Tampa misses playoffs.
NHL '13: Claude Giroux = Numbers took a slight dip, Flyers miss playoffs.
NHL '14: Martin Brodeur = Devils trade for Cory Schneider, Brodeur ends up having awkward season as 1B. Devils don't re-sign him after season.
NHL '15: Patrice Bergeron = Boston struggles and misses playoffs.
NHL '16: Jonathan Toews = Chicago loses in opening round.
NHL '17: Vladimir Tarasenko = Tarasenko decent season, Blues lose in second round.
NHL '18: Connor McDavid = McDavid wins Art Ross, Edmonton misses playoffs.
NHL '19: P.K. Subban = misses time due to injury, traded after the season.
NHL '20: Auston Matthews = Matthews good season, Toronto loses in play in round.
NHL '21: Alex Ovechkin = Numbers took a dip, Washington loses in opening round.
NHL '22: Auston Matthews = Matthews wins Rocket Richard, Toronto loses in opening round

Yeah. I’m into both NHL and NHL games but I couldn’t care less who is on the cover so it’s preaching to the choir. Anyone in my bracket buys it regardless. I need to buy a PS5 first however.

I agree in many ways, but the game is also an NHL video game. And now the cover of the game features someone with nothing to do with the NHL, it kind of loses a bit of authenticity, IMO

And for those who say it’s only a cover, that is fine, but EA has gone beyond just the cover. It’s like the Kaepernick thing with Madden. You can think what you want about Kaepernick and I’m not trying to go down the path with his activism as no one’s views are going to change. But the fact is he last appeared in an NFL game like 6 years ago as a backup to Blaine Gabbert. So why was he not only put into the game but ranked as a top 20 qb in it?

EA markets itself as creating the most realistic games and stuff like this just says otherwise.

Ah yes. NHL Threes. I totally authentic bit of hockey in my video game.

The best word I’ve heard to describe the Kings logo and color scheme is sterile. You feel like the Kings work in a medical lab or something. They just have no character.

My fav is still the third jersey they wore in the mid 2000’s with the black, purple and silver but with the crown instead of the stupid lion shield logo.

But I guess expecting a team called the Kings to have a crown on their jersey is to much to ask.
