ick. vegas and edmonton are playing. Since someone has to win, lesser of two evils is vegas winning. Just no 3 point games.

kthxbye

Wasn't even close, Oilers aren't making the playoffs.

Had to look up the Marchand clip, the way people were acting you would have thought he murdered someone. Mostly nothing plays to me. We see similar stuff every month.

Marchand is getting an In person (via zoom) hearing for his idiotic (what else is new) behavior last night for punching Jarry in the head and then swinging a stick at his head.
Hope he gets a good long suspension , thinking at least 5 for the in person but hope it's more, given his history.

It goes back to the end of the 2nd period i think. Jarry went to toss a puck to a fan, a-hole Marchand skated by, knocked the puck away, then took it for a skate to center ice where he just chucked it aside. Then they had words and the ref skated in before anything else could happen. Total dick move, by a total dick. And f-that ref for letting him throw the punch.
I love Marchand. His antics are hilarious how he just trolls teams. Wish we had a guy like that. Lemieux is similar but without the talent.

5+ seems a bit ridiculous for that, but i guess that's the repeat offender thing kicking in

way she goes in the modern NHL i guess

I wish the NHL stopped calling it an in person hearing when it's a zoom call. I know its silly but words do have meanings.

While I would have fired Ducharme too, the losses he's had to deal with and the changes in that locker room since the cup run must have been enormous. Imagine losing leaders like Staal, Price, Weber and even Perry and adding guys like Mike Hoffman in their place. On and off the ice this team had been completely run over.

This is good for Montreal. They are obviously awful this year and probably next year too where the top of the draft will have multiple potential superstar forwards to choose from.

Get a very good (but not superstar) player this year and add a franchise changer next year and they will be alright. Some team will be convinced this summer that they are just a goalie away and make a trade for Price and the Habs will be able to retain some salary through their rebuild.

But ya, it turns quickly in the NHL.

Fully agree, team has been gutted compared to the playoff team last year.

MTL was the perfect example of fool's gold and suspect team-building and it seems like everyone knew it but them.

I mean the 'losses' mentioned above (danault aside) have an average age of Dustin Brown, if you're pinning your championship hopes on them, you are already up shit creek without a paddle.

I knew Montreal was having a rough time but to lose 7-1 on home ice against the Devils (without Hughes/Hamilton) on the back end of a back-to-back while starting an AHL goalie.....I can see that being the straw that broke the camel's back. Just absolutely no compete from most of Montreal's players.

Fighting the urge to bump the thread when Montreal claimed Sam Montembeault to backup Jake Allen. I was arguing with one Montreal fan who was adamant that Cayden Primeau was more than ready to be an NHL backup (currently sitting at .874 sv%).

Two separate attempts to injure. Double the suspension.

And how many players have come out of the DEL and been successful? There's no point in painting over these guys.

There are less Byfield types because there are fewer human beings who are 6'5" 230, not because size is a disadvantage.

People who just paint him as a big plodder instead of a skill guy himself are doing him a disservice, he's a lot more like Wheeler or Malkin than like Brian Boyle.
The league he's from is unimportant since the skillset he has is fit for the NHL and a lot more common. I think that's a weird thing to be held up on.

Also, if that was the case then every 6'5 player would be drafted and become immediately successful.

The reason why there isn't many 6'5 NHL players of high caliber is because as herby said, its the Unicorn of the NHL. You dont see it, and the ones who are there are really good but very few. There's more Stutzles than Byfields which was the main reason I wanted Stutzle over Byfield because Stutzle seemed like the safer pick.

Nevertheless. Hopefully Byfield gets icetime and proves most NHL fans wrong.

Martin St. Louis is the new MTL coach. WTF!!!

other than being french what has he done? I know he worked in the rangers organization with Gorton and I had heard he was in coaching, but what has he done to be a head coach. Also why would he sign on when a team should be tanking. hard place to start

How many 6'5" players are leading their teams in scoring in Jr's ? Most large players are projects not high celling prospects ( who may/may not pan out ).

lmao

french canadians never cease to amaze me

love marty but holy shit he is not an NHL coach. really hope he proves me wrong

They [nhl network] brought up Babcock , but with 7.5 mil already on the books to now 2 former coaches, no way would they dish out another 10 mil or whatever for him. Marty will be cheap, thats for sure.
