Funny enough I'm not 100% certain what his timeline for return is but VGK DOES play the Sabres pretty soon here

I hate that he's in divisiion and Eichel is an absolute force of nature but I'm very very excited to see him out of that environment and thriving, hope for full health.

By the same token it looked like Eichel was bad for the Sabres too, so good for them. Like a toxic relationship between two of your best friends who are good solo but just horrible for each other.

Vegas needs to clear $10 million for Eichel. But for 2022-2023 they are at $81.45 with 14 contracts so someone else has to go during the offseason.

I think smith and dadonov/marty would be gone this season to make room for Eichel, but in the offseason it would have to also be someone significant. I'm thinking the other of dadonov/marty that's not traded this season.

Could Shea Theodore be available?

Theodore is 26 and signed for 3 more full seasons after this one at $5.2 million. He fits their contender window and provides cost certainty. He's top 4, can play left or right and PP1 and PK2. And he has 90 points in the last 168 games. .54 PPG

They're not trading him when they could trade a 34 year old Marty with a $5.25 million cap hit instead. 43 points in 74 games. .58 PPG But will decline since he's 34.

can't believe they let him go, seriously.. ego's a hell of a drug

The only way I can agree with the trade is if a panel of outside doctors all agreed he would never recover. But obviously that isn't the case and isn't what happened. Buffalo is an embarrassment and it's amazing how many make Jack out to be a diva, plenty of players have criticized the absolute failure there including Lehner and O'Reilly. The latter was also trashed as being a diva and guess what, all he does is captain a team to their first Stanley Cup and win the Conn Smythe.

Eichel will be a 100 point player in Vegas. Pacioretty-Eichel-Stone will be a ferocious top line. Pacioretty is a 35-40 goal scorer, Eichel is a dominant center, and Stone is a top 5 defensive forward. When fully healthy and rolling that is probably the most complete line in the league, all will be over a PPG players. That's probably a 250-275 point line alone.

Eichel career -69. Impressive.

I was looking at his stats yesterday. I think it's more a product of a bad Buffalo team. I'm betting he's in the + with Vegas.

Almost wish we would have made a play on him, but the timing wasn't right. I mean Vegas didn't really give up that much to get him.

Oh for sure he was on some truly awful teams his entire career thus far. Interested to see how he does in a new environment. Not interested in the next 10 years of bitching on here if he plays well. ;)

I remember the 03-04 Avs too.

Max Pacioretty and Mark Stone have been PPG players the last 3 seasons (including this one). Jack Eichel was a PPG player the last couple seasons. That would put them at a minimum of 246 points.

tHEYR'E gonna be losing some depth to juice that top end, though.

One of the reasons VGK was so successful was having 'good enough' centers and exploiting the market inefficiency of high end wingers. Seems like they've given up on that.

I think Eichel is a great player and a pain in the ass for the next decade BUT I also think this is VGK's last REAL go at it before they start dipping. They're out of assets, depth, and cap space with aging players. Make no mistake they've put together a force right now but they're not young.

Vegas has a remarkable ability of taking rejects and average players and elevating them to a much higher level. It's remarkable. Look at Stephenson who is a PPG player this year and Amadio has something like 7 points in his last 15 games, he's been very good. They'll continue to do that to offset the massive contracts. Vegas will be a very good team for at least 3 more years. They have a few very good prospects too, Brendan Brisson is going to be a great NHL player. He's kicking ass this year.

I saw the same dynamic skill that Zegras has in Stutzle. And I wanted Stutzle because he had shown that and Byfield just seemed like your typical second line center that has a good north south game. ( I like east to west playstyles more). I really hope byfield proves to be the better player. Todd is ass but Byfield hasn’t really done anything to blow anyone away granted his icetime and line mates are ass

Was thinking about this last night. Do the Kings add a Laine, Pettersson type that can burn a goalie with their shot on the PP & pay around 8+ for them or add another Arvidsson on a cheaper contract that just causes havoc.

MTL pulled this off in last years playoffs. Used defensive lines to shutdown top heavy teams & tossed a rookie line with Toffoli in the bottom 6 for scoring.

Sens fans wish Stutzle was as talented and productive as Zegras.
