Makar is amazing with the puck, but his defensive awareness is well below average. Not sure why he skated away from Palat on his goal, he was in the slot ffs. He was the most dangerous man on the ice. Makar knew it right away too.

If he can fix that stuff he could be the best all-around D we've seen in a while.

Kurtis MacDermid will be lifting the Stanley Cup in a few hours. And since he played in most of the games this season for Colorado he'll be getting his name engraved into as well. Happy for him.

Palat has been a late game assassin all playoffs. That was his 3rd game winner, and there were a few game tying goals and insurance goals as well. Mr Third Period.

And the lightning record holder for playoff GWG if I heard that correctly, pretty pretty pretty good considering the names he's surrounded by

That's easy, total misread by him and Nuke, they BOTH left Palat to go to the corner.

I don't know the Col system but that seems like the Dmans correct spot.

That too many men at the end was like it was scripted for a tv episode after Cooper's last postgame, lol

Kinda amazing how they missed this one...
There are 7 guys including Hedman at the bottom, who is 20 feet from the bench when the player comes off the bench to play the puck.

The refs do miss the too many men call at times when there are wholesale changes by both teams, which is what looks like is going on in this case.

True, but considering what happened the game before, you'd think they'd be looking more closely... oh wait, at the end of the game the Avs got called for it.

An obvious conspiracy by Bettman to get a Game 6 for some of the best hockey we have seen in quite some time?

Yeah, I don't know what they are coached to do there, but Makar is almost stick-checking Palat before he takes off to the corner. Nuke could have stayed home there and put his stick on the ice, but I'm sure some panic was setting in. In any case, going to the corner was the last thing Makar should have done there. If he didn't mark Palat he had the option of flipping around and keeping the gap to get his stick in the way, or deflect any shots, etc.

Yeah, I guess what I'm saying is I don't see it as an IQ issue as much as a dual-player systematic panic mistake.

TBL has a habit, as COL does, of making people look mortal. He was good-to-great defensively most of the playoffs, and he's typically good-to-very-good defensively.

People are microanalzying him now as they often do to tear down Norris winners, especially those in the SCF, and he currently has the Hedman fans upset because Hedman is playing sub-par (probably injured), the Josi fans pissed because they think he was snubbed, and the EK booster club pissed because they thought no dman could ever score more points.

Tampa Bay has the forecheck and their cycle game going early in Game 6.

Outstanding effort and play by Kucherov on their first goal.
