How do the Kings (or anyone) ever expect to compete with this team?

This is the most talented team since the Wings/Avs in the early 2000’s, when there was no cap. Not even the 2010 Hawks would touch this team.

I think the Hawks had more D depth and Crawford for sure was a better goalie

They, and most teams, probably aren't expecting to compete with them. Most teams, in most years, are happy just making the playoffs, because only a couple teams at a time truly have the ability to know they can win. Every other team hopes.
