I do not like Smith. His slashing on Dustin Brown back of the knee when he was in the Coyotes. I was there for game 6 this year. I was right behind him. Section 209z I was yelling at him all game that he should retire and will never win a cup. f*** him. However, his over all playoff…he did ok.

Colorado was the more balanced team top to bottom. 12 million for Nurse? Ouch. We need to sign Kane. He is tough and can score…

It's hard to say a team getting to the WCF is bad for them, but for the Oilers I feel that's the case. I think it gives them the false sense that they are closer to the cup than they actually are, when that roster just isn't built to win a cup IMO

They have LD for 3 more years, and McDavid for 4. They're not doing something else.

Pacific division’s the worst in the NHL, Canucks should easily be tops in division next season. Swept Brutal.

There really isnt a tried and true approach to having 12 days off. Id probably give them 3 days off completely. ease back into some practices and ramp them up last 3 or 4 days. No matter what its going to be hard to be sharp in game 1. The possible good news for them is maybe Kadri can be available by then.

He just had thumb surgery. Pretty likely he's done from what I've read.

Avs 12-2 so far. Might surpass the 2012 Kings for dominance in one playoff season.
They're also undefeated on the road I believe.

Im really interested in seeing what happens with Kane. Do the OIlers try and resign? Does some other team overpay? Any other player with his #s probably looking at a raise and multi-year deal but with this past issues this is going to be very very interesting.

Long shot pick? Vegas. It just makes way too much sense.

Two superstars carried the Oilers that far with a combined 65 points, which is damn impressive, but out side of Kane at times in the first 2 rounds, nobody really helped out much and got them wins. There's no balance on the team and if you can shut down McDavid, or limited his chances, you'll probably win. Their defense was average to bad at times and then there's Smith who was wildly inconsistent, especially in this series [I don't care what his playoff record was 10 years ago]. A healthy Kings team beats them, I'm certain of it. The Oilers just aren't a contending team, and this was just a good run on the back of the best player in hockey.

They are what they are, elite scorers. McDavid is probably still the best player in the game although it won’t be long before people start suggesting it’s Makar. However I still struggle with people calling McDavid generational because he’s a great scorer but he’s not yet a winner. Last year he couldn’t carry his team past Winnipeg and this year he got past an overachieving Kings team and a Calgary side that played nothing like they did in the the regular season, playing worse than the Kings.

He has the talent to be generational but he not delivered on it yet for me because he has to show he can carry his team through a play-off series where the opposition is on paper better, is playing well and he’s the difference. That’s what true generational player do and he’s not done it YET. I think he will get there and there was growth in that winning mindset but im not ready to agree he’s truly generational (which is grossly overused).

I’ve still seen too much cheating, worrying about stats, not enough going to the hard areas and when on top of that you see a player only get interested in a game when they go on the pp then I struggle with the generational tag. I think he will probably get there but he’s not there yet.

I dunno, "generational" is such a hard term to define. When you think about it, we call Gretzky generational for what he accomplished in Edmonton, and Orr generational for what he did in Boston.

Each of those players had excellent supporting players on their teams. Was Gretzky not generational when playing for the Kings? The Kings got past the second round exactly once with Gretzky on the roster. What if he had played his entire career with the Kings?

OK, come on now this is just a ridiculous take. Draisaitl has a 1.43 P/GP over the past 3 seasons, with 409 points. 3rd place is Patty Kane with 352. Of course he benefits, but no amount of playing with McDavid is going to elevate anyone to that level. He absolutely is that good and he has an 8.5 million dollar cap hit, which is a sweetheart deal. Who are you trading him for? Futures? If it is an established G and D, then the cap hit is likely going to be way higher than his and the talent will be substantially less.

Not trading him for futures but if Edmonton wants to actually address their areas of weakness he should be looked at being dealt.
I think he is one dimensional, and although $8.5M is a good contract for how good he is at that dimension with Edmonton's roster construction he should be moved.
Trade him to Philly for Provorov + (don't think they could but if they could somehow get Hart too), sign E. Kane. The team is better IMO having those two than one Draisaitl.
