I don't remember seeing this level of theatrics, especially from goalies, before in the playoffs. Disgraceful.

I mean I know it's effective because officiating in this league has always been a step behind but at what cost is it for some players to win?

The Stars have really surprised me.

Series now tied 1-1 heading back to Dallas and the Stars are a much much better team at home.

pretty incredible what you can do when you forecheck
My buddy said "strange what happens when you pick up bad habits during the regular season because nobody hits anymore" and that's not entirely wrong. That hit might get passed up on or not delivered so heavily in November.

That hit used to be delivered in training camp if a guy got the chance.

Johnny Hockey showing up in the playoffs as usual. Dudes a choke artist. Never been a big fan of his.

yeah it's like, i get the "professional courtesy" thing with how many millions are involved nowadays, but it feels a bit far gone at this point. guys feel wayyy too comfortable around the boards and behind the goal in a game where hitting is a central tenet to defense

archibald/kassian game 2 is a perfect example, none of those hits were dirty or late but they just ran through guys whenever they had a chance and it swung that game. maybe if hitting wasn't abnormal, it wouldn't be so effective in the playoffs

Yeah, the Ranger goalie tried to pick Carter, almost hurt himself in the process, stayed down like Carter ran him over. Penalty went to Carter.o_O

Back to his 'avoid all contact at all costs' playoff style of hockey. Guy is the poster child for how not to play come playoff time.

he was ok in game 1, but last night definitely looked intimidated. Funny how in two games the narrative goes from "johnny is going to cost Panarin money, Treliving should have signed him last offseason", too "someone is going to overpay for the softy".
I do he played alot better defensively and physically this season, and did think some of that would transition to the playoffs. There is still time, it is only 2 games, but I am less confident for sure. Pressure is on him as it should be.

Is anyone else streaming the games through the TNT or TBS apps? This picture quality seems way worse than the games on ESPN+ but I’m wondering if it’s just my setup for some reason.

The way these games are being ref'd has got to be intentional, they are calling everything, and sometimes calling things that never happened. The Leafs are on their forth PP as the second period starts. Worse case scenario for the Kings if this continues with these horrendous special teams

Its really unfortunate. Worst playoff I think in my lifetime. They are ruining the games calling it like preseason.

I feel like such a loser complaining about officiating but it seems like everyone hates it. Sometimes it's really tough to have respect for some of these calls, and not just for or against the Kings.

I don't like conspiracy without basis but I think you could build a case in certain examples. I think it's naive to think the major sports and athletic tournaments don't have mobbed up or compromised officiating. The Olympics were a disaster because of it in my humble opinion.

The NBA doesn't like talking about the championship that was handed to the Lakers from an admitted referee working for an organized crime group.

Yeah, the call are all over the place. some hooks and holds are called one period, the next period, they're not. also, when was the last time you saw a too many men called on a delayed penalty, when there was no clear advantage? It happen every time there's a delayed penalty and it's never called, especially in the playoffs.

The Canadian media has been pumping the "you have to call the playoffs like the regular season" story quite hard for over a year now. Coincidentally no one had a problem with playoff hockey before two Canadian markets had embarrassing results and disappointing star players in it.
