It's funny; what Kane (allegedly) did doesn't bother me too much as a Kings' and NHL fan (as a parent, that's a whole 'nother matter, but I digress) - the folks that should have a problem with it, actually, are the Sharks, since what he was doing was essentially sabotaging the team. Obviously, if the allegations are true, he shouldn't come anywhere near the Kings; but hopefully that's basically tautological at this point...

i dunno man, if that stuff was coming from dustin brown's wife's mouth i'd call for kane's head but we're talking about "lolitaluxelife" here, looking for a nice divorce settlement. far be it from me to defend anything about kane at this point but yeah... i'm going with grain of salt right now, even if it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Kane has no money. She is not getting anything from a divorce settlement. She will probably have to file bankruptcy herself. Under CA law, the spouse is also liable for debts of the other spouse encurred during marriage.

even prior to her bombshell post, some things have been coming out in Kane's bankruptcy case that call into question his future ability to play hockey.

The motion, filed by Zions Bancorp, alleges that Kane sold a pair of Rolex watches for $75,000 to pay off gambling debts less than two months before his January bankruptcy filing.

If accurate, that is a textbook bankruptcy preference that the trustee has the fiduciary duty to claw back from the casino. The bankruptcy preference period is 90 days. That means if the report is true, it is now an unpaid casino marker. If it's to a NV casino and we all know how much kane loves vegas, then he is looking at potential felony check fraud charge(s). Each unpaid casino marker over $1200 is considered a separate potential felony.

Since this appeared in a motion. it is a major indication that the bank is going to have the bankruptcy trustee claw it back from the casino. And the trustee will win.

Additionally, if there is any truth the bankruptcy fraud accusation, then the bankruptcy court could refer him for criminal prosecution. The dollar amount is certainly high enough.

Evander Kane Accused of Fraud to Keep $600,000 From Creditors

Just ask Lenny Dykstra how serious bankruptcy fraud is taken. And that was only over $200k based on the restitution amount.

Any felony convictions in the above areas would be deportation level offenses. And it just comes down to the question of do you really trust Kane not to have done something stupid?

As to why she made that post in the first place?

She just had her house repossessed. She has no money and stated she had to sell her wedding ring to feed her kid. She's also pregnant with another. She's reportedly been abandoned by Kane.

there is no money from his past career to get. there is no current money, and in all likelihood there will be no future money. So what exactly would she lose by making that post?

If kane loses his bankruptcy case and has to do a repayment plan, then she's not seeing any of that money. If kane wins and keeps it a chapter 7, then Kane is looking at potential check fraud charges from the unpaid casino marker(s). Kane is also staring at possible bankruptcy fraud charges depending on his conduct and how much he pisses off the judge.

Any felony in the above areas means Kane is getting deported. He certainly wouldn't be able to enter the US for some years. His prime hockey years.

yeah like, no matter what's true and what isn't, it's f***in embarrassing for 2 grown adults with children to behave like that, top to bottom

George Laraque jumping into the Logan Mailloux fray...

I know It's not a laughing matter due to the victim, but I will snicker (guffaw? chuckle?) so hard at the Habs if it turns out that Logan Mailloux can't enter the US.

That massive PR hit, seen as a hypocrite, loss of goodwill from the cup final run, etc. and then it turns into a wasted pick if Malloux can only play in Canada.

That will be an interesting case.

Kid was convicted of invasion of privacy and defamation.

Neither of those have equivalent criminal laws in the US on the federal level.

California, Nevada and Maine do have privacy laws but entry into the US is the preview of the federal government. Defamation is a civil matter.

So, it may actually hinge on whether the convictions in Sweden would be considered criminal in the US.

And there is the whole thing with Mailloux being a minor at the time.

It's revenge porn. Plus there is the whole issue about the creation, possession, and dissemination of child porn. According to some legal sites, the age of majority in Sweden is 18.

There is a question of did the picture fit the definition of child porn.

This is something only a lawyer experienced in immigration law and sex crimes can answer. I am not sure Bergevin recognized he needed the expertise of that kind of lawyer.
