JT Miller’s contract is a looming disaster but whatever team gets to enjoy his prime is going to really enjoy it — good for the Rangers, if they get anywhere with GM Drury it’ll probably be by blind luck and opportunities thrust in their face like this one.

Detroit beats Vancouver in OT. They jump into WC1 spot. CBJ fall to WC2. TB to 9th. Boston 10th.

Montreal is now 13th in East. This also moves the WC spot from 5 pts up to 6 pts up. 7 really since Montreal doesn't hold the 1st tie breaker so we'd have to pass not tie.

Huberdeau scores his 20th goal of the year. He's probably going to hit 30 this year. He's only on pace for about 60 pts, though.

Decent rebound year for Huberdeau.

Around 60 points is about what Huberdeau averages. Florida was smart to trade him coming off career year.

Panthers were probably going to extend him but found out M Tkachuk was available.

How is that possible? NHL is a frigging joke

Top 5 pick would not depress me.

MSL may not have liked it but it’s still the far west out there. Only thing that works is what Xhekaj did in pre-season, show that you’ll retaliate on other star players.

Hartman’s play on Stutzle was just as bad

Tortorella wants michkov to play sustainable nhl level hockey

When you’re the last man back and do a fly by in the defensive zone in game 50 which is a 0-0 game you’re still not getting it.

Rotenberg for all intents and purposes appeared to be benching demidov for non hockey reasons
Yeah, I get it.

But rookies make mistakes. He's already benched him a few times this year. Michkov was crushing it early on and now he's struggling all of a sudden. To me this reeks of Therrienism.

There's a balancing act and I think 'tough guy' coaches lose sight of this sometimes. Yes, he needs to be told it's not acceptable. Yes, he needs to learn. But I don't think benching or screaming at players is the way to accomplish the goal. I think when you do that the player becomes tentative and loses confidence. We saw that for years here.

And... some players will never 'get it'. Lafleur is a great example of this. Bowman wanted everyone to play the same way. He tried the system with Lafleur over and over and it never worked. He finally just gave in and let him play the game his way. Stuck Lemaire on the line and let him worry about the D. Sometimes you have to adapt to the player rather than the other way around. Michkov might be that kind of guy.
