I guess I'm one of the few that thinks the Werenski contract is okay.

He's probably getting overpaid by about a 1.5M. But that's what it takes to keep a guy in Ohio. It's better than trading him IMO.

You're supposed to pay players for what they're going to do, not what they've done. Werenski is 24 years old. He'll be 29 in the last year of the deal. CBJ is getting all his prime years. It's a much better contract than Doughty/Karlsson who are being paid for what they did in the past.

I agree, but I also meant that we probably literally couldn't have afforded that contract, had we traded for him. But I guess I've been pro-Eichel, so in retrospect we would have figured it out.

The Kings could be dealing with this. How many wanted to sell the farm for Eichel?

I'm sure the Kings (or any team trading for him) would have had that all sorted before pulling the trigger. But when you start consulting multiple spine specialists, that's a red flag. Eventually, you are going to find a few that are more optimistic and will tell you just to do this and everything will be fine. It's just not worth the risk unless the price is worth it, which is why no one is coming close to the rumored cost.

I noticed that the first thing said was that they anticipated a trade, it sounds like that's primarily what they are pissed about and think it's going to solve all their problems. He'll be out of Buffalo and the new team will presumably let him get the procedure he wants. It would suck to be on that team, they are the gold standard for ineptness in the NHL and I'm sure they've fed Eichel lines about how they are going to do this and that to improve. But Eichel signed that contract and cashed those checks, so it's pretty much out of his hands right now.

Sabres' Jack Eichel's agents on surgery, trade: 'The process is not working'

I don’t trust the Sabres at all either, but we wouldn’t be trading for the Sabres, we’d be trading for broken ass Jack Eichel.

He's obviously injured, but my biggest point is, given how poorly the entire organization is run ("We're signing Hall as a piece for our battle for a playoff spot this season." ........... *18 game losing streak*), I'd probably disagree and not trust the Sabres medical staff too. It's a culture of losing and it drains you. It's a bad relationship and I feel bad for the kid, look at how many players they've ruined. I'd trust Jack's doctors/medical opinion over the Sabres'.

And you jokers are complaining about Danault, he saved the Kings from acquiring Eichel, kiss his feet!!! :snide:

To think this CLOWN was 3 games from winning a Stanley Cup this season. 2011 Canucks were the biggest trash team I've seen, Kings smoking them in 2012 was so amazing.

Who is right and who is wrong isn’t really relevant. What’s relevant is that he wants surgery and may never be the same again, and every day he doesn’t have the surgery delays knowing if he’s coming out of it Jack Eichel or Trevor Lewis.

And joke’s on you, I’m not upset about Danault at all.

That Lewis and Stoll play was a defining moment in Kings history. That was when everyone was like, ok we have something going on here.

Loved the reactions too. Coach Stevens was amped, Doughty was going crazy etc.

Pretty wild that Stoll and Greene would win it together after losing it together in Edmonton.

Then 2 years later Regehr and Sutter won it together after losing it together in Calgary.

It may just be a coincidence or that Blake learned a lot from Dean Lombardi as assistant general manager in terms of valuing “winners” in the locker room.

But Blake just acquired three guys this off-season with Stanley Cup Finals experience.

Definitely agree, it’s so important and even more important given how loaded our pipeline is. These three players have had big success in the playoffs and will be great mentors.

Danault was also around that stacked Chicago run as a rookie.

Edler is the best Canucks defenseman ever and has played in 80+ playoff games with multiple deep runs and a Game 7 SCF loss.

Arvidsson has been on a couple deep runs including the SCF against Pittsburgh.

Big game players. These are the guys you want in the room helping the kids grow.

Bruins fans hated him, citing that oftentimes he was lazy and took stupid penalties. Ducks fans didn’t have a high opinion of him either, as he’s failed to live up to his draft position.

Yep. Watched him in San Diego and his body language is awful too, seems like he dominated in smaller ponds but just won’t work to live up to his toolset in the NHL.
