You also for got JAD in the lineup.
Nah I just figured he’d be competing with ‘Zot for 4 th line center. Same thing though. signing a bunch of middling players in the way of your prospects means they just stew on the back burner indefinitely.

But that's not roster spots to be had. You can make an argument for 16 forwards, based on experience and/or contract, before you get to Byfield or any of the others.
You can definitely draw up a lineup in which zero rookies make the team. The Kings could return almost the same lineup as the end of last season plus Arvidsson and an offensively middling 3C. Could be another excruciatingly dull team.

Just listened to one of The Athletic podcasts, and I realized that I think the entire league is sleeping on the Blues. I forgot they added Saad and Buchnevich, and they still have Tarasenko there as of right now. Perunovich coming up on the backend looks like he could be a gamer too, and Kyrou already broke out last year. Binnington is likely going to be motivated to take a run at one of the Canada Olympic spots too given that it's basically a free-for-all at #3 on their depth chart.

I wouldn't be surprised if they made a bid to win the conference. They have to be pretty embarrassed after getting swept last year, and I think CO and Vegas look a bit more beatable than they did last year too after the playoffs.

that Buchnevich trade was robbery

When the team has been in the basement for the last three years, there aren't many locked up spots if the team is honestly looking to improve.

It's still about contracts. There's only so many guys with experience that can end up in Ontario. Most teams, most of the time, don't pay a guy like Scuderi at the end to just stay home.

As much as we want the young guys in there, there's also a reason they have so many other guys. They easily could've let Lizotte go for example, and opened up real spot to win, but they didn't even do that.

Don Waddell 2.0 is pretty on point, minus the KK troll job. Atlanta fans much be watching on thinking they are slow roasting in hell right now.

IDK...I think the Kotkaniemi thing was crazy like a fox. Which team this offseason other than Carolina actually ended up acquiring a young top draft pick via any transaction? Yup, exactly, bad teams that had high draft choices. I think it was super-creative and well-thought out, for a very low asset price (a late first and a late third is about what Columbus got for their Foligno/Savard rentals). Who knows if it works out, but it could have a huge payoff.

Pretty deep and Trotz behind the bench adds up to top of division

I like the line up, but there is some significant wear on the treads in some spots and coming off back to back shortened/broken up seasons. Be interesting to see what an 82 game grind is like on vets who haven't faced one since 2018-2019.

Listened to a sound bite of Mathew Tkachuk from 31 thoughts. Sure sounds like Brady will be holding out for $$ and Mathew will be looks to paid on his next deal. He pointed out that their dad held out and the boys will hold out if needed.

Also he sounded alot like Sean Avery to me.

I think we're going to see a weird Cup Final combo this year, like Blues vs. Islanders. They're both teams with lots of experience and an enviable amount of depth. The first full season back from 2 shortened years has to go a little wonky too, right?

I am with you on the Islanders, but I think this is the year that Avs finally get over the hump
