Your idea would also unbalance the conference that the NHL just spent years fixing.
Neither CBS or Det want's to go back to the Western Conference.
If the Yotes were to theoretically move, the NHL would do whatever it could to keep the team in the Western Conference

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

Coyotes will be staying in the desert.

I still think Florida is the most likely team to move. They have a great roster so we will see if the fans show up at all.

Adding Reinhart and re-signing Bennett were ballsy moves to help put them over the top.

Main question is if Spencer Knight will be taking over for Bob by mid season.

Hopefully they start getting some traction. I went to their rink for the 2015 Draft and it is in a bit of an odd location, 45+ minutes north of downtown Miami. I was intending to go to a Dodgers/Marlins game after day 2 of that draft, but I would have missed most of the game due to the travel time so I opted to loiter around the concourse for photos instead.

Curious to how Vancouver will maneuver resigining Hughes and Pettersson. They have ~$11 million in cap space. Makar got $9 million Heiskanen got $8.4, Hughes is probably in that range. Gotta think Pettersson is a $10 million player. Vancouver is in cap hell despite being 24th last season lol

And then the Canucks have Boeser to re-sign next offseason. Although they appear to have some wiggle room for him.

Jeff Carter opening night 1C now.

Crosby's wrist has been an issue, he tried non-invasive and it didn't work, so surgery hopefully will. Carter's a seasoned vet, good on both sides of puck, with the Pens had good possesion numbers and averaged close to 3 SOG's a game. He should be okay. That PTO to Brian Boyle will come in handy for bottom 6 C, maybe with Rodrigues as well.
Their main issue is still Jarry and goaltending.

Unless they give Bozak a PTO and whoever is better, between him and boyle they keep.

I could see them signing Dubnyk for like $900K

I think I saw you.

Subban (with salary retained) to the Leafs in a package for Reilly. Leafs can't afford to keep him and Devils have the CAP space and assets.

This rumor might have legs. If the Devils pulled it off, with a strong young farm system, solid goaltending, young talent up front and Hamilton and Reilly, it give them a huge step forward, advancing their rebuild.

That article seems like a bit of a bad game of telephone. First he's referencing Jimmy Murphy's column regarding Subban and Murphy's track record is spotty at best. And even then, he ignores the part of Murphy's column which notes that the Devils moving Subban would likely be something that would happen closer to the deadline. The Devils already paid Subban his six mil signing bonus for the season so it doesn't make a ton of sense to move him right now when most teams would have to do some salary cap gymnastics to fit him in while giving the Devils a minimal return. New Jersey eating 50% closer to the deadline for a better return makes a lot more sense in which case Toronto would be looking to add him for a run rather than subtract Rielly.

For a team with championship aspirations, I can't imagine how trading Rielly for Subban+ makes sense.

Interesting that Freidman said the Sabers are circling back to teams that made offers on Eichel. About time, I would think they are too late to get top price. I would be pissed if I was a Buffalo fan.

I wonder if Nico H from New Jersey could make sense. They seem to want to be more competitive sooner than later.

On pure talent Eichel is better, but might be tough PR move for the Devils to move team captain for somebody with a questionable injury outlook for this season. Haven't seen too many reporters indicate that the Devils would be interested. At least based on previous rumors, Buffalo seemed to be settling for the "four first round caliber talent" pupu platter. Unfortunately the Rangers still make the most sense but I'm sure Buffalo would rather deal Eichel to the west.

Indirect three way trade scenario that could work for everybody a la Turris/Duchene a couple years ago:

Minnesota: C Mika Zibanejad
NY Rangers: picks + prospects

NY Rangers: C Jack Eichel
Buffalo: picks + prospects + (whatever they got for Zibanejad)

ya I have heard zero rumors about the Devils. Just trying to think of a team that would produce a JR "Oh my God it's ____'s music" situation.

I think the wild have to be out with Kaprizov likely to get $8m and how much $$ they have berried in buyouts.

Would buffalo really want to trade him within division? Let alone teams so close in proximity to them like NJ or NYR. Man it would suck to be a Sabres fan

According to a TSN reporter , Eichel expects to have surgery soon and timeframe for return is Dec, and also the Sabres price remains high (4-6 pieces). Could be that was one of the issues at the Sabres/Brisson meeting. Maybe Brisson has the ability to get it done.

I think they want to trade him to the west with the first choice of the kings but it takes two to make a trade and Blake wisely did not want to do so.

I think the sabres second choice may be the ducks. But the ducks are in a similar spot to the kings (maybe one year behind in the rebuild) so it doesn't make sense for them either.

I'm glad for Eichel that he is getting the surgery he wants, his body. I'm glad for the NHL to have an entertaining player back. It sucks as a fan of the game that it took this long for the surgery.
