With Bylsma and Torts NOT behind the bench we should fare better than previous years.
They might actually build a team the right way, not include guys like Brown (or whoever the 2021 version of him is) because they will have access to all of the best young players, since their won't be U23 North American team. /rant

I think the Coyotes will be sold before next season and moved to Houston. The only things keeping them in Arizona are ownership’s application to run casinos in state and Bettman’s unwillingness to accept defeat.

With the money from a sale, Meruelo can bribe the state government to give him an exception to the casino regulations and the league can save face by admitting the move to the central division was part of the plan.

Someone in Houston has to want to buy the team, and have somewhere they can play.

Caps have had no luck moving Kuznetsov

Yup, that's a problem...

NHL Rumors: Vancouver Canucks, and the Washington Capitals | NHL Rumors

  • He counts $7.8 million against the cap this season AND the three seasons that follow.
  • He has a 15-team no-trade clause, giving him a measure of control over the situation, and he likes it here.
  • The Caps would have to get a top-six center in return. Not a third center, not a winger who’s played some in the middle, a legit first- or second-line center.”

Plus in the last 2 years, the salary is more than the hit. That contract was never going to be easy to move. Not to mention that Caps are still "contending", so they have to put on a show, and can't even take back a pick and bad contract for a year or two.

It was supposed to be his prime years but his PPG have decreased in each of the last 3 seasons. this is a critical season for him to show he's rebounded.

We should reach out to the Yotes for Chychrun. They seem to be in a big time selling\tanking mode right now.

I still think Chychrun is exactly the guy LA needs. Kick the tires regardless of a single tweet.

Well look at that, Canes now have the CAP space for KK's contract...

Unsolicited fantasy hockey story.......

I've been in a 27 team keeper league since 1999. We do our entry draft a week before the real thing to add a degree of difficulty. On top of the usual crop of teenagers, players on each team's reserve are also available to be poached. These tend to be 4th liners and has beens. Usually those types of players will start going in the 3rd/4th round of our draft just to fill depth.

We picked up a new GM a couple months before this draft. With the 11th overall pick, he picked Jake Gardiner off of somebody's reserves. We had to stop the draft to try to help him change the pick. Normally the league would be cutthroat but everybody was taken aback. Despite all of us telling him it was a bad pick, he remained incredulous and defiantly told us "I know what I'm getting out of Jake Gardiner. I don't know what I'm getting out of an 18 year old." After the draft, he told us that he looked forward to Gardiner dominating this season.

This league is purely for ego and there's no money involved. But I'm definitely thinking about buying an autographed Jake Gardiner card and mailing it to the winner as our new trophy.

I'm almost motivated enough to dig up an old mock draft post from a few months before the 2018 Draft. I had a trade which had Carolina (well-stocked on D) trading Jake Bean to Edmonton for their 1st to select Kotkaniemi (before his late rise at that year's U18s). I vaguely remember being mildly flamed by a Carolina fan who said they'd have zero interest in doing something like that. [/coolstorybro]

Cool story bro.

The "Making it as easy as possible to be sold and relocate" plan?

Looking forward to the next installment of Major League with the release of 'Backyard Coyotes.'

AZ only has 6 players signed to contracts beyond next year...what kind of plan is that??

Arizona Coyotes Salary Cap, Draft Picks, and Player Contracts - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

Stinks if you're a Coyotes fan, but that's definitely the "previous guy made a mess and I want a clean slate to clean it up" plan that'll take a few years to execute. The pre-Crosby Penguins squads were quite dreadful, but that's probably what Arizona is aiming for whereas the current era bad culture Sabres are the downside to the scorched Earth method of rebuilding.

Moving the Coyotes would potentially balance out the divisions. 2 Canadian teams per. The Pacific would just have to kick one out.

Your idea would also unbalance the conference that the NHL just spent years fixing.
Neither CBS or Det want's to go back to the Western Conference.
If the Yotes were to theoretically move, the NHL would do whatever it could to keep the team in the Western Conference

Coyotes will be staying in the desert.

I still think Florida is the most likely team to move. They have a great roster so we will see if the fans show up at all.
