Florida expects that first rounder next year to be a late pick. If the Kings were in on Reinhardt, a similar deal would have to be lottery protected. Given the teams chances, no doubt that knocked them out of any discussions.

I'm in absolute shock at the sheer stupidity shown across the league this offseason:

Duncan Keith trade with zero retention
Hyman contract that's going to be a disaster
Carolina's goalie situation (Nedeljkovic trade)
The Seth Jones trade and contract
Buchnevich traded for a fraction of what almost everyone thinks his value is
Seattle having absolutely nothing lined up for the expansion draft except flipping Pitlink for a 4th (Morgan Geekie better be a player, because they could have got a 2nd for taking Jake Bean)
Montreal drafting Mailloux
Ristolainen returning a first and a second in a trade
Barclay Goodrow contract

All of this is before free agency even starts!! I feels like there have been a decades worth of abysmal decisions in a few days

And I'll be adding that horrendous return for Reinhart to this list. A 7th round goalie prospect from last year who has only played 7 games since, and a top 10 protected first round pick is the best you can do? Ridiculous

That return for Reinhart makes me wonder if Kevyn Adams caved or he wasn't getting any other promising offers... Reinhart is, after all, a RFA.

Besides a LD, Blake needs to sign or trade for another tweener that can grow with the club. I just felt that Reinhart was that perfect fit. ::tear::

Seriously, I would have loved him on LA. Same draft as Kempe, excellent player, exactly what the Kings need. Oh well. Maybe the rumors were true that he only wanted to be in Vegas or Florida.

As least the rumors around Reinhart were that he wanted to be out on the West Coast near his family around the Vancouver area, so I'm interested to see how the contract with Florida develops.

The Panthers first round pick is top 10 protected.

I wonder where Landeskog ends up? It's going to be tough for Colorado to bring him back unless they play him at goalie. And even then.

Unless they find a taker for Johnson, of course.

Lots of stuff in Pagnotta's column

Busy Draft could lead to busy week — The Fourth Period

Of note

Ovie's new deal is rumored to be 4 yrs x 10M per

Habs looking to replace Weber, eyeing Hamilton or Savard (as are other teams)

BRuins spoke to Yandle and Suter.
Isles, Blues, Stars, Panthers and Avs are interested in Suter.

Martinez mulling over a short term offer , less than 4M from Knights

Kings still in on Eichel and per Blake, a top 6 forward and left shot defenseman.

Khaira would be in the mold of a dumpster dive. But he could bring a bigger physical element to the bottom six and might get you 10-15 points. A 1 year deal might be good enough around his current $1.2M number. A better option at fourth line wing than MacD. And he had a decent season last year from my looks. He’s 26, so he fills that age gap in the roster with 250+ NHL games under his belt.

I wanted Virtanen for a similar role, but he turned out to be toxic.
