Reinhardt to the Panthers. Scratch another one off of Sleepy Rob’s wish list.

He is, add Bean and Werenski, that's 3 good young d. THey have CAP space and should sign a veteran to stablize. JD is a good hockey guy and will get them back on the map.

Don’t sleep on Gabriel Carlsson. He’s another one to watch out for.

We’ll see what happens with Werenski who is one year away from restricted free agency. If they can convince him to hang around, their defense will be strong going forward.

I'm in absolute shock at the sheer stupidity shown across the league this offseason:

Duncan Keith trade with zero retention
Hyman contract that's going to be a disaster
Carolina's goalie situation (Nedeljkovic trade)
The Seth Jones trade and contract
Buchnevich traded for a fraction of what almost everyone thinks his value is
Seattle having absolutely nothing lined up for the expansion draft except flipping Pitlink for a 4th (Morgan Geekie better be a player, because they could have got a 2nd for taking Jake Bean)
Montreal drafting Mailloux
Ristolainen returning a first and a second in a trade
Barclay Goodrow contract

All of this is before free agency even starts!! I feels like there have been a decades worth of abysmal decisions in a few days

By far the worst is Seth Jones. I can't believe Stan gave up two first round picks to acquire a guy in his final year. I was hoping for a couple moves, but given these deals, some of the worst I've ever seen, I'm 100% happy making our picks (we already got exactly what we need AND he was the BPA) and moving on. Plus I think Arvidsson will pot 25-30 goals next season playing next to Kopitar - by far the best center he's ever had while being very hungry and motivated after a down year and trade.

It's funny how all the stats geeks are pointing out Jones flaws [and very warranted] while the old guard media are yelling "eye test' "top 5 dman in the league" " can dominate games" . I've yet to see him dominate a game. The price was as crazy as the contract extension he's getting.

Yeah I enjoy the advanced stats and was pretty surprised to see his being not that great. 9.5 is insane, especially for a "rebuilding" team. Kings are looking better every day, LOL!

On the Reinhart trade...
Great pickup for the Cats. I guess he'll place with Barkov and Verhaeghe?

NHL Trade: The Buffalo Sabres Trade Sam Reinhart to the Florida Panthers | NHL Rumors

The Buffalo Sabres have traded forward Sam Reinhart to the Florida Panthers for goaltender Devon Levi and a pick. Remaining details to come

The 25-year old Reinhart was drafted 2nd overall in the 1st round of the 2014 draft. He is a restricted free agent.

The 19-year old Levi was drafted 212th overall in the 2020 draft by the Panthers.

Holy ****. Levi was a very good goalie prospect, but just him and a pick for Reinhart?

1st round pick. Zito did good. Would have loved to have had Reinhart on Flyers for alot less than what Fletcher gave up for Risto.

Panthers now have the top 3 picks from the 2014 draft

Eckblad, Bennett and Reinhart

I am not a fan of Voracek, whose defense and mental lapses are far to often and also is not a money player , when it counts in the playoffs. Good luck to him and that contract. I've always liked Atkinson, generally puts a pound of sweat into every shift, is a smarter player, better defensively and has a boatload of leadership, which the FLyers need. Fletcher and AV both mentioned issues in the lockeroom, that they didn't like the mix of the team, something was missing.

Fletcher boxed himself into a corner , CAP wise, and needed $$, with 4 contracts to ink this year and now has 12M to do it. Next year, a new can of worms, 6 contracts, including Giroux and Couturier and won't have any money, most likely.

Weird how the Sabres could get a haul for Ristolainen and then only get a goalie prospect and a 1st round pick for Reinhart.
