Jake Walman shared the non-hockey reason why he was scratched on Tuesday:

"I missed a treatment session for my upper-body injury on our day off, our treatment day, and it’s a team policy that you got to be in there if you’re dealing with an injury. Just from my end, I misunderstood our treatment plan. That was the reason for the scratch. It’s our team rule to be held accountable for something like that."

Fabbro is a $900k 6-7D making $2.5 million. Teams would be crazy to claim him.

It’s always been comical how absurdly overrated he is in this market because he’s a local guy who played well in a couple WJCs.
He will still get claimed by other teams desperately needing RHD help purely based on his name and draft position.

Are you joking?

How is that shocking
Myers sucks

I seriously doubt that.

We make fun of Myers because he can have chaotic nights but the reality is Myers kills penalties and protects areas of the ice that Dante freekin Fabbro cannot - and that is why he is on waivers.

Chaotic nights?
More like chaotic seasons

Purely based on rhs and age*

His name and draft value are just (meaningless) bonuses, but even as a 100% overpaid 7th dman he shouldn't clear waivers for the bottom teams just due to the aforementioned traits.

fabbro is 26 and has 12 giveaways this season in 6 games averaging 13 minutes a game.

canucks got a good look at fabbro in the nashville series and so far as i can tell there was nothing to see. in three playoff games amounting to over 40 minutes of ice time he was a non event: zero hits, no points, 1 shot, zero takeways, 1 giveaway, 2 blocks and a pdo of 100.

really seems like he's a bottom pair dman at best in the nhl unless a change of scenery works. at his salary that's a gamble for a bottom feeder to take, not us.

Yeah, a non contender can take him on, give him a chance to rehabilitate his game, and maybe harvest a pick for him at the deadline if he bounces back.

Hard to believe that Fabbro has been in the Preds organization since being drafted in 2016--the same year the Canucks picked up Oli Juolevi....ouch!

I least he's lasted longer at the NHL-level.......but a 7-8 d-man making $2.5m a season is a non-starter for Vancouver. Fabbro always struck me as a younger version of Mark Friedman.

He is on waivers. Nashville is the worst team in the league and he is still playing 13 minutes a night. I know a lot of people dislike Myers because he was and has been probably asked to play a bit above his level for years but we have seen what has come through the right side of the Canucks defence for years and a bunch of it has been absolute shit compared to Myers. To think that Fabbro is better than Myers though is asinine.

I dont think its asinine
i think he is one of the worst defenseman in the NHL

As evidence by the fact they couldn’t get rid of him last year… so much demand
Clearly those GM’s agreed
Lucky thing for the Canucks that Benning still isn't in the executive booth. Fabbro is exactly the kind of waiver-wire, former high draft pick, that he'd have blown a second rounder on to acquire.

“They like this player.” Then inexplicably re-signed him.

You might be confused with the money he made vs how he played. Pretty much the exact same thing was said about OEL. Now he's a cup champion and has a new deal in Toronto. Teams wants these players just not what some were paid on contracts.

Fabbro is paid 2.5M and no one was willing.

Yeah Benning would have overpayed

He may not even be claimed becuase his Salary is still high, if he had a signing bonus this he would be more likely to be claimed.

He had a million salary and Vancouver was willing to retain and no bites except for San Jose who wanted to dump a guy owed just under $6 million in salary in the trade

Tyler Myers is a better player than Dante Fabbro by a country mile. It isn’t close.

Fabbro is a fungible nothing player who could be exchanged with 50 guys currently playing in the AHL and with no meaningful difference.

So him and Myers have that in common

Jets are a feisty team this year. Hard to say if all the bounces are going their way, but from what I've seen, they sure look like an exceptionally cohesive group playing at the top of their abilities.

These defending arguments in favour of Myers are barely applicable, and only because we're using Fabbro as the comparison.
