It wasn't like his season was that massive of a leap in stats.
His last three seasons he had 26 in 56 games, 38 in 78, and 39 in 64. And most recently 48 in 81 games. Fairly consistent point per game, improving over the years with experience.
It's not like he broke out and had a 70-80 point season. He jumped 9 points. And that's with maybe being injured and going cold to finish the year. I'm not sure where this writer thinks he's going to revert to.
If you look at comparable players, points/ice time etc. He's right at par with them. Except most are older.
