Richardson takes the fall for coaching a bottom 5 team to bottom 5 finishes.

That team is a mess.

Trouba...I don't know. Perhaps with some good coaching he can find a stable game again. But he has been awful the last couple years.
There are nhl HC jobs where you know the HC won’t make it to the end of their deal. Early stage rebuilds are brutal jobs. That’s what Richardson had with Chicago and what Quinn had in SJ.
Cronin and Lalonde landed on teams who want to come out of rebuilding. Not sure I see either lasting. Rosters just not as good as gm thinks it is.

Even if they clear Trouba's salary, they're not going to be able to effectively spendusethe space mid-season. Chris Drury's failure on this front last summer basically tanked the Rangers entire season. Amateur GMing.

Meanwhile a shark like Julien Brisebois pulled the "accept the trade or you're on waivers" move with McDonagh like a week after winning the Stanley Cup.

was gonna mention this.

there was some surprises on team Canadas roster. Like cmon we all know this.

but I'm happy as hell Bouchard and Hyman was left off. The fans called it. Those guys are just riding on good players and are outright frauds and shouldn't make it because they are just riding on Mcdavid. The fans called it. except for Oiler fans.

The real experts have spoken. Left off team canada because they are just that. "Frauds" I absolutely hope Bouchard gets his 11 million asking price, that be hilarious. Love it.
Bouchard is a modern Larry Murphy. Flawed but absolutely a top-pairing defender. I was blown away at times in the Oilers' run last year with his ability to adjust to plays and set the table for his forwards.

Yeah, Richardson didn't do himself any favors with how the Hall healthy scratch was handled, but of all the rebuilding teams no team has done a worse job of bringing in insulating veterans for the young prospects than Chicago. Kyle Davidson is a completely overrated manager.

Waivers is kind of an empty threat. No one is claiming that contract off of waivers. Rangers are going to have to eat half or take a bad contract back.

Drury waived Goodrow. I had expected him to do the same to Trouba. Unless after talking to other GM’s he didn’t get the sense he’d get claimed.

You can arrange to have another team claim him on waivers first - Columbus did this with Marchant back in the day.

He should have added a sweetener.

When Brisebois threatened McDonagh with waivers, he'd come to an agreement with Columbus that they would claim him.

I can absolutely see the BJ's hoover up that contract. cap hit is irrelevant to them, he only makes $6MM.....and they need RHD.

Can’t really send a sweetener after the claim. NHL and PA would look into it as 1 transaction that violated the spirit of the cba and the players mntc.

Like if NYR sent a 2nd for a 7th and some ahl guy. Like what would typically go with a salary dump.

They should hire Babcock lol, perfect fit for that organization.

And he will ask Bedard to write down everything he thinks is wrong with his teammates!

Uh, citation extremely needed here. If waiving a player violated the spirit of an NTC, we wouldn't have NMCs. We saw exactly this with Marchant for Fedorov.

You mentioned sending a sweentener. Trouba only has a MNTC, so he can be waived as of July 1. No issue if he gets placed on waivers and claimed. But, if NYR were to send something to say SJ or Chi after that club claimed Trouba, that's when the NHL/PA would look into it.

I understood you. And I'm saying you're wrong. This exact situation has happened in the past and there was no investigation.

Yup. People love to sh!t on other teams players instead of looking at the reality. To what purpose that serves I don't know. Bouchard is a unique player with gifted great vision and offensive awareness, plus a great shot and knowledge of when to use it. His defence is suspect but he makes up for a lot of it by being on the offence most of the time. Definitely a player to be reckoned with.

So the idea is that the Rangers have a side deal with a team to pick him up off waivers and they'll take a negative value contract back? Kind of a shady way of getting around his NTC.

The only negative value player I can see Columbus sending back is Eric Gudranson.

I don't think anyone doubts he has good offensive skills. But we've seen plenty of one dimensional offensive defencemen (Klingberg etc) who have been exposed when they aren't in a cushy situation. I'm just happy he has arbitration rights next summer and the Oilers are going to have to overpay him like they did Nurse.

I believe both the Rangers (Goodrow) and Blue Jackets (Marchant) have done this before. Different regimes, but there is precedent.

So it happened 19 years ago and now Drury has done it twice.

Maybe it'll work out in the short term for him but no agent will allow their player to sign anything but a full NMC with the team as long as he is GM there.

Yeah exactly. They can definitely be exposed. There are a number of people that run him down as if he's some kind of huge detriment though. That's a little overboard. I hope he signs a big deal too and screws their cap to hell. Edmonton should have given him a bigger deal awhile go but that's good for us.
