Dude was found with a sex trafficking victim unconscious in his hotel room. If he was an average player his career would have been over on the spot.
Sure I forgot that the guilty standard is far lower on HF Boards than in real life and I have read about the "incident" and the lack of information there that people are filling the gap in Seattle which isn't Colorado so I guess that there was a coverup or something?

The bottom line is that people are drawing conclusions from a limited set of facts and the legal system doesn't work that way.

the team doctor got fired for reporting the incident. nichushkin didn't do anything 100s of other nhlers are doing. it just got out

Predators lost again.

Seems like it was unwise to gift so many aged players retirement contracts?
What could go wrong eh?

OEL just played more ES minutes in the Nashville game than any other Leaf Dman played in all situations.

So many ugly stat lines for the season on the Hawks. A lot of double digit minuses and poor scoring paces. Mik with a terrible stat line points wise (5 points) but somehow is a plus player on that mess of a team.

Was it worth giving up Hagel to get Moore and Boisvert? Be helpful to Bedard.

Trevor Zegras hurt yet again in the Ducks 4-1 loss to Vegas. And looked pretty bad. Couldn't put any weight on his leg at all.

So much promise in a flashy player who broke into the league as a heralded talent......but everything has gone totally sideways in the last couple of seasons. His name regularly comes up now in trade rumors.

I suppose it's a testament to the complete crapshoot that is the entry draft. Even the most supremely talented guys can see their careers hit the skids, despite all the early draft hype.

I've never seen this. 😂

I was in London recently and visited Westminster Abby one afternoon. Among many memorial stones, was one for Nelson Mandela.

Am just picturing Bernier there, sharing his insights amongst visitors, "I truly looked up to him. He was certainly revered amongst his peers, as exemplified by this great honor. What a hockey player."

They're not a good team.

I don't think it's that surprising. It's just an artifact of how flawed +/- is. Defensive players are hard to penalize and easily rewarded. Mik doesn't play PP, so he'll never get minuses for shorties against. He PKs, so if they score a random shorty, he gets a plus. At 6v5, he's never one of the ones trying to tie the game, so he won't get empty net minuses. But he is a 6v5 lead defender, so he can get empty net pluses.

Flashy forward who came into the NHL needing structure and had Eakins as HC. Fans were fine tanking, but how often can you Tank yet: 1) Develop your prospects in a losing environment & 2) Convince good veteran players to join your team to turn the corner?

His production seems to have dipped when they swapped Eakins for Cronin. Have to figure that if his numbers are the same level this season, one of them will not return in 25/26.

I know all that. It's still funny to see odd ball stats. Like Marek Malik leading the NHL in plus/minus.

And instead, Avalanche executives tried to cover it up.

Worked for Jake Virtanen.

Colorado probably would have bought Nichushkin out if his buyout was as cheap as Virtanen's.

They lost a ton of speed and swapped youthful exuberance/upside for "experience" and elevated injury risk. Every major move they made has been a disaster and they don't have much $$ or the prospect pool to address the issues. If they miss the playoffs this year, it might be really tough to convince McDavid to stay.

The dye was cast with McDavid staying as soon as Draisaitl re-upped for term.

Their off-season as turned out badly, I agree. The skill they added had near everyone laude them as the favorite to win, but that ceiling came at the expense of their floor, which has fallen out. They can't consistently operate at a high level and so have taken a step back.

McDavid is going to do what's best for him, regardless of what Leon did/does. If they miss the playoffs because the team - as constructed - is massively flawed, I wouldn't hold me breath for an extension next summer.

There had to have been a long-term discussion between them before Draisaitl put pen to paper.

It's a forgone conclusion imo.

And it all goes out the window if he loses faith in managements ability to construct a winning team around him. It's early, but the returns on the current groups' first offseason are bright red IMO. I'm not saying there's no way he signs, but IF they miss the playoffs, I doubt he extends early....and heaven help them if they f*** of next summer as well.

If Tocchet has to integrate another sub-6 foot D into this blueline he may snap :biglaugh:

Hughes-Hronek
Soucy-Carrier
Brannstrom-Myers

Would be a pretty solid top 6D though...
he won back to back cups in Pittsburgh with a small defence. That defence would actually look similar to what Pittsburgh had in 2016/2017, with puck movers on each pair.
