Not sure if this is representative of all King's fans.. But if so, LA fans must be some of the most shortsighted and impatient fans in the league. Been reading plenty of DL bashing in the threads. Things haven't worked out the past 2 seasons, but the reasons are plenty and hardly to be centered on incompetent management.

2 Cups! Sure, DL had some help (DT, AM, etc..), but what GM in the history of the hockey has ever been solely responsible for building/causing a team a to win on individual basis alone? That's just not how management works. I always appreciated DT quite a bit, and thought his moves were consistently overlooked (Straka.. Anson Carter.. LAPD..). But DL came in and made the impact changes (personnel and culture) that put the team over the top.

Stuff like retaining Justin Williams being a better move than Lucic is ridiculous and doesn't win Cups. Calculated, but impact driven moves do. Not all the moves worked.. and the assets lost hurts.. but that's the price of playing for the Cup.. though never guaranteeing the Cup.

First of all i dont represent all Kings fans. I represent myself. Everyone has their own perspective and outlook of their beloved Kings . This is our team we love so i state my opinion you know its supposed to differ from you because we have different perspectives but some things we might agree. If you look up other threads i have stated that Dean is the best thing to happen to us . He is a great GM , he built a winner without having a rebuild like the Oilers. Its quite impressive . Look on the main boards ive mentioned it . We have Doughty only as a top 10 pick. Everyone else is outside the first round or after the top 10.

However , just because he had success doesnt nullify the fact that we have 1 playoff win in the last 2 years and have given up countless assets that would be quite valuable to us right now for 2 players who walked. So one must sit back and look at whats happening around him. The game is evolving , its more skill and speed on teams throughout the lineup including bottom 6. Maybe our system needs to be tweaked because if you dont adapt to your environment you stay behind. The heavy style doesnt seem to be working well against fast teams and it tires out our players while the opposing team just skates past our guys. Look at Chicago they let go of replaceable players and promoted some players sooner because its good for them some might even surprise us . You keep contending and getting faster younger and more speed in the lineup to go along with your actual core of guys. One must be able to see the game is evolving and shed some of the slow dead weight and replace within through rookies or get some cheap players through the market that fit. Not stick to keeping King , Clifford , Greene around and watch them slow us down when their cap space could be used more wisely not to waste prime years of Kopitar, Carter , Doughty, Quick.

Think about it . You might actually look at the situation through my eyes and actually like and agree with me . Lol cheers Kings fan

I don't really buy into this, I'm no expert but I thought our system works fine when it is being executed properly. We look pedestrian when the passing/ timing is off. When our guys get the meat grinder going, no one can keep up with us. We wear teams down and just smother them.

I would concede that the physicality doesn't always work when the refs get all sensitive. I thought the game where Lucic went after Mr Ed was a perfect example. If you are going to ice guys that push peoples **** in, they've got to do it and be allowed to do it by coaches and to a point refs, or they are not being used to their full ability. Lucic had to go all medieval on someone there , otherwise they are just tweaking his tail and laughing. It negates the intimidation if you are not going to use it.

I'd like to see a big improvement by Shore/ Dowd or a strong 3c added to help roll four lines. An improvement to the D core would be nice too.

A 3C and few more skill needs to be added to the bottom 6. If the last 2 years are any indication then id say this season should be more evident that the game has evolved.

Amen.

I would add that, to the chagrin of many posters here, I doubt our system is changing much, whether people like that or not. Maybe a tweak here and there, but the puck is faster than players; Sutter is NEVER going to pull the Pens-system card of "area dump to neutral zone and foot race for a possible breakaway." Our 'slow' team speed is overstated because of a couple of slugs like King; it also LOOKS slower because we often pull back and control instead of doing quick-strike transition stuff. MAYBE Sutter gives a green light for that--turning DZ turnovers into quick moves--but everything else? Nope, we're measured, and it makes for possession.

We looked slow because DeBoer is a good coach, our guys were off something terrible after the allstar break, and our back end COULDNT make a pass to start the meat grinder. Only Muzzin had an even mediocre series on the back end, everyone else was hot garbage, and our only decent puck movers were Doughty-Muzz vs. an SCF team, that's a recipe for disaster.

There are only so many ways to play hockey, but there are enough different ways to win. It's about executing whatever it is you're doing on the ice. There's no reason to copy the last winning team. Not everyone copied the Kings, and other teams won after the Kings, doing whatever it is they tried to do, because they did manage to do what they tried to do. That's what it ultimately comes down to. Making the plays you're trying to make.

The Sharks beat the Kings because of plays like the one where Pavelski beat Kopitar in the defensive zone. That play came down to simple execution. Kopitar didn't tie up his stick, he didn't block him out, he didn't do anything. Damn sure didn't look like the Selke winner. He got beat in every which way on that play. Maybe he was scared to take a penalty, because the Kings PK against the Sharks was bad all year long, from the faceoff dot, to the point shot, to the front of the net, to in the crease.

Still miffed that the refs--all year and even more so through the playoffs--bought into their embellishments. Their penalty differential is disgusting, appalling.

That being said, one thing the Sharks do that IS worth emulating for sake of drawing more penalties is generate high-danger scoring opportunities, turning raw possession into a tough situation where a slower player will have to react. For the Kings, that might be something as simple as breaking the cycle to throw an occasional net-front pass. THat keeps everyone honest, if nothing else, otherwise it's easy to sell out to bust the cycle if you know nothing is coming to the net. Vinny and Mersch did that quite a few times.

#Avs Stuart cleared Ws and will be bought out
Mason Raymond and Eric Nystrom placed in Unconditional waivers w/purpose to buy out

With all the teams looking for depth forwards, Raymond will get a contract. He's been a pretty solid contributor.

When Bryan Berard retired in 2009, he was shocked to learn that the nest egg he built over a 10-year NHL career was gone.

He’d been duped out of $3 million.

At least he owns up to the fact he should have been more aware, but I can understand when he says his family was blue collar and knew nothing about investing. They put their faith in the wrong hands...

He was angry, not only at the two men eventually convicted for squandering his money, but at himself for letting it all happen. Berard was one of a number of former NHL players defrauded by Phil Kenner and Tommy Constantine, who were convicted in the U.S. last summer on charges of wire fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.

I would hope that the NHL schools the players, esp the newbies..on the pitfalls like this.

Raymond is terrible. Wouldn't want him anywhere near LA. He does not have the kill to play top 6 maybe even top 9, and lack the defensive awareness for the 4th line.

I completely agree that the jackets have a good deal there

Edmonton about to get Larsson for Hall or thereabouts. THat's a blockbuster and honestly the final piece Edmonton needs to be full ****ing scary.

They must feel locked in with Lucic to make that move.
