Habs fans are having full on melt downs, I would too honestly with the 100M Tampa team.

If the Leafs had made a run like that I would be atleast happy to make progress. Maybe being in the finals draws more hunger for next year.

Would be crazy if Montreal trades for Eichel. Seems like a smart all in play imo. Keep Suzuki and Caufield and offer K.K + a button of picks and prospects
Montreal does not have a single piece that could work as a base for Eichel.

Lol there’s nothing on Montreal worth Eichel.

They had a good (read: lucky) month of hockey and now all their players are insanely overrated. It’ll be entertaining watching them not even contend for a playoff spot next year.

I really doubt it. Eichel is pretty much forcing his way out. He likely goes to a team in a quantity deal imo.

Etc he would go to LA but Byfield would not be the piece coming back.

The Habs are in the same division and would likely have to pay a premium.

Personally I'm not so sure he goes for a futures package. I don't think the Sabres are looking to do yet another 100% rebuild. They're going to want an impact player coming back to them

I want to see the cup lifted on Hab ice by the opposition. Ghosts of Beliveau and Richard can have their sleep disturbed.
If that happens, it will be only the second time. First time was Calgary in 1989, with Doug Gilmour scoring the Cup winning goal.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but everything you say is just making our team look even worse by comparison.

But I don't think it was just luck. Luck will win you a couple of games, but not three series.
I get that
But what happened to tavares and scheiffle were big blows that def made it easier

Tavares' injury was bad luck, but I'm not sure he would have made much difference.

Scheifele's wasn't luck, it was his own stupidity, and considering how the first game, and the series, went, they might have won a game or two, but no more.

But it's all a matter of speculation at this point.

Great now we can all cling to this saying see - we should've beat Montreal, the series was more one sided than Tampa's !!

Every now and then I'm sitting at home and I remember we blew a 3-1 series lead against this garbage Habs team, and I get all pissed off again. I wonder if the Leafs think about it while they're playing golf or hanging out on yachts this summer

I am so confused by the people who wish Lou was still here. While he was here he could not draft and signed the same bad contracts Dubas did, but to bad players instead. Marleau's third year killed us and cost us a real gem of a prospect in Jarvis. He also gave 7 years to Zaitsev and overpayed Matt Martin. The 2016 and 2017 drafts were complete abominations aside from Matthews and Liljegren. I have zero doubts based on hos body of work here that this team would be worse now if he was still in charge. The one thing saving his reputation right now is the fact he hired Trotz for the Isles. How that man gets so much out of such a crap roster is beyond me.

I agree completely, Trotz is making Lou look amazing, Lou did dick to deserve GM of the year this season.

No surprises for the first two rounds. Leafs took their foot off the gas after game 4 and the Jets have always been an atrocious 5 on 5 team. Round 2 is as lopsided as it gets lol

As for round 3, Fleury really shit the bed games 2 and 3, along with Vegas' inept PP

Game 2 vs Tampa is interesting. Thought the Habs dominated but I guess they didn't create many high danger chances

I think it's stupid to cry after Tavares. It was plain bad luck and we should have sustained that, but saying that Tavares wouldn't have made difference? Come on, Habs added Caufield and Kotkaniemi, they made difference. You don't think two way ppg center wouldn't make difference for us. Tavares would have added matchup nightmare for Habs, even Nylander did that. Tavares would have magnified that even more.

Well I do think tavares would have made a big difference, not just with his own play but the fact that leafs had to reshuffle multiple things to make up for that loss

scheiffle I don’t agree that it was a bad hit
Incredibly heavy hit yes but I agree with the jets coach, he went right through him, at the chest
And the fact that Habs player got hurt made it worse then it should have been but if U don’t think taking 2 top tier centres out of the lineup in the playoffs is a big deal then we do disagree then

I didn’t think montreal was better in game 2 either
I was surprised by tv commentators saying same thing
2nd period montreal was dominant yes but rest of the game I saw Tampa always coming at montreal keeping possession in Habs end easily controlling the game and Habs chances were off bounces

Hoping Tampa closes this out in a convincing manner. 6 - 0 would be a nice score. Price being hounded out of the net would be a cherry on top.
