David Staples @dstaples

Taylor Hall will be next captain of the #Oilers, says ex-player Georges Laraque.

Adam Herman @AdamZHerman

EJ Hradek is dropping some bombs right now. Says Tampa discussed Stamkos/Eichel trade idea. Says Blackhawks tried to keep Kane out of camp.

I wonder what the rest of that trade would have looked like?

Stamkos for Eichel would've been interesting. Although they'd have to pay him close to the same amount they'd pay Stamkos [give or take a mil] when his ELC expires .

This would never cut it in Toronto. Burns is just so classic.

Asked Tortorella if there were any particular players he wanted to coach, and he wouldn’t discuss potential candidates. But he came up with a very interesting answer. “I don’t know him at all, I’ve never had reason to sit down with him, but I’d like to get into a room and talk with Jonathan Toews. To me, he’s the best player in the world. He’s not the best skater, not the most skilled. But he’s got an incredible intangible. He knows how to win, and that’s what we’re supposed to do. It’s interesting to me.” Pause. “It’s too bad he’s a (bleeping) Canadian,” he laughed.

Give me a ****ing break.

I already linked it on page 3.

Errr the link on page 3 was a reddit article about cocaine use in the NHL, with out a single mention of Doughty... hell with out a single mention of the Kings other then Stoll...

So... Again what the hell are you talking about?

And oh yeah, spoiler alert.... Professional athletes are basically 17 year old kids, told they are better then everyone, sent on round the country road trips and given millions of dollars. Yes, they party, lol... hard to put it much better then

that guy on that reddit said:
There's a lot of cocaine in any wealthy industry. It's a controllable, brief high and is out of system within days. Also it makes you feel like a god-king and these alpha-type athletes who only focus on winning probably love that surge.
Totally understandable

Surprisingly enough... Teenagers given money and power are not roll models. Crazy.

You obviously didn't read the thread or you're illiterate.

I'm obviously not gonna read pages of reddit to get something your hinting at that you could just say... Especially when searching it does not come up with Drew's name or more then like 1 mention of the kings...(about Stoll)

Also
Oilers reporting Eberle to miss 4-6 weeks (shoulder) after a collision vs the Yotes behind the net. Guess Draisaitl gets a shot.

LeBrun penned a piece on a wrinkle in the expansion draft upcoming.

http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/39596/rumblings-how-would-expansion-draft-work

As one executive opined to me recently, if the league is asking for $500 million or more for an expansion fee, you better believe it will try to give that new entry a decent chance to stock its roster.

I agree with that. I think the expansion draft rules will not be that to which teams unload their bottom feeders. I think they'll make it much tougher for GM's and who to protect.

Also, there is the large number of NMC's, which might protect those players.

A no-move clause not only means a players’ blessing is needed for a trade, it goes a step further and prevents a club from putting him on waivers or trying any other shenanigans to get rid of said player. It’s a powerful thing to have in your contract.

From section 11.8(c) of the CBA: "A no-move clause may prevent the involuntary relocation of a player, whether by trade, loan or waiver claim."

Plus, will expansion teams need to hit a certain amount of the cap? I don't imagine the PA would allow the expansion teams to not have to hit the cap floor in their first season, so something will have to give somewhere. How many top free agents are expansion teams going to sign? How many guys that hit free agency are worth the money? It's all much more complicated than previous expansions.

The PA is gaining 46 permanent jobs. That's a huge win for them. The will be asked to make a few concessions as well. One of them will certainly be that expansion teams will not need to hit the floor for a time.

Plus it would also be in more players favour if the expansion teams slowly move up to floor. If they had to make it year 1 then that UFA crop would cash in waaay too ridiculously (not only to expansion team's but say expansion team claims Brown then LA has a bunch of money to go out and sign). If they slowly work their way up to floor over 2/3 years then many crops of UFA's have a chance to cash in.

But I do agree it's going to be much more complicated. Things like in the previous expansion draft the UFA age was 31. So there was very few pending UFA's. And those players that were pending UFA's were worth taking since they gave the expansion team compensation draft picks. Now with more UFA and no compensation picks it's gets more interesting. The old rules would leave the expansion teams with nothing likely other than extreme depth guys and pending UFA's. So things would need to change.

As good a guy as there ever was, @colinfraser is playing in Nuremberg, Germany, on a team with Dave Steckel, Brandon Segal and Dany Heatley

Interview with Jarret Stoll coming up on NHL Network (Bruins/Rangers game).

ETA: Good short interview. Very serious Stoll, not the light-hearted guy we know.

Nice shot! I'm actually curious to see how this is going help his development playing in the swiss league. Oh and McDonalds on the Socks is absolutely hideous! Hope the NHL never go sponsors on jerseys.

I missed the goal the first time because my eye caught those hideous socks. I hope to God the NHL never sinks that low.
And I think he'll develop at a better rate/pace because of the skill set he's playing in, adults vs. peers. I'm curious to see if next year, other top rated prospects follow suit.
