i should be Brent Burns for halloween. not hockey player Brent Burns mind you, but lumberjack hipster Brent Burns. Time to get a Chewbacca mask and hit the thrift shop!

Brent Burns

Watched some highlights of the Oilers/Canucks preseason game and I am pretty sure that the Oilers will quickly learn to regret that Sekera contract. He was a hot mess, which I guess shouldn't be a surprise given the role he is being shoved into on a defensively inept squad.

Their backend is still a hot mess in Edmonton. I think Sekera would have thrived where he doesn't have to be "the" man just "a" man. I don't think Edmonton will regret the signing, they just need their young guys to develop so he doesn't have to relied on as their top guy.
Also whomever plays with Schultz will have crap numbers as he is such a garbage d-man. Would rather have Nikitin

Ive seen 3 of the Oilers pre season games and they have a bunch of holes. McJebus has had his moments but he floats a ton and in Edm it is going to be up to him to learn/play any sort of a two way game. He should score a bunch but he looks like a goat in his own end. Sekera looked awful last night and simply isn't ever going to be a solid #1 D. If he is looked upon to be one he will only get worse as his struggles mount.

This is my thought on Sekera. Ideally he is a great fit to anchor a team's second pairing.
Eichel looks like he is ahead of McDavid at this point. Eichel is so solid in his own end I would not be surprised if he plays on the pK.

The Blackhawks are a gong show. First, that ill-advised press conference. Now, this idiotic idea. All kinds of comments transpired in my mind, none of them appropriate for posting.

living in the middle of Chicago, I can tell you that a frightening amount of Hawks fans have long ago convinced themselves that Kane is 100% innocent (should clarify - from practically when the story first broke, even before recent developments), it's a very cult-like mentality honestly. I still see loads of Kane jerseys being proudly worn around all the time, nobody thinks it's anything more than a temporary inconvenience to their "dynasty".

And, not really surprised that Hawks management was this short-sighted either, they've not exactly proven themselves to be especially competent in this matter thus far, don't expect it from them going forwards.

Just when you think they couldn't be any more clueless...wow....

speaking of the Hawks, Bickell was put on waivers this morning.

Yesterday, @SportsnetSpec reported CHI/EDM talked Bickell for Nikitin, but that fell through. Some tough decisions being made by CHI.

Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune theorized that they might put Bickell on LTIR tomorrow when he clears for 'vertigo'.

It's also a possibility #Blackhawks could put Bryan Bickell on long-term injury list with the vertigo symptoms. Many things in play here.
