I get why they want games on Friday (afternoon and evening). Maybe the teams preferred to play on Wednesday with Thursday being a holiday.
Maybe something to do with the travel? Day game is a poor choice for Friday though opposite the NFL.

Among the best at finding the back of the net sure, but he makes 0 effort defensively. This lack of effort then infects the entire team.

If he decided to play a 200 foot game then I agree he could be among the best, but with his current attitude he is a liability

Draisaitl is definitely not good defensively but I’m not sure it’s fair to lay their team wide defensive ineptitude at his feet

Of course not, it starts with McDavid.

Obviously it's not that simple but when your top 2 players, who are arguably the top 2 players in the entire league, don't put in any effort defensively that rubs off on the whole team.

It's much the same issue as the Leafs have in the playoffs. For both there are lots of things you can point to for why they fail, but the crux of the issue is that when you're a team built around star players, the stars need to be the ones to set the tone.

The team we traded with also has nothing left from that trade, and Marchment is currently a cap dump on a different team.
Marchment had a down year last year but is playing well this year with great underlying numbers and has been fairly productive at 5v5 (top 5 on the team in P/60). He also had poor luck last season with a below average 5v5 on-ice sh%. So no, he's not a cap dump.

50 pts pace for 4.5 is not a cap dump.
He paced for 37 points last year, and didn't play well outside of production. Fans were all over him. He then started off the season really badly, and was getting dropped down the lineup. Picking up 40% of his season's points in the last 2 games helped his small sample pace, but he has been a regrettable signing for Dallas thus far.

Seems like a pretty ridiculous player to be talking about 4 years later, while bringing up a trade where neither team involved has anything left.
Defense never rests!
Seems more like offense never rests. 4 years.

Marchment had a rough start to the year, relatively speaking. 5 points in the first 13 games, but he's had 5 points in the last 4 games since then. He's getting the eighth most minutes of the forwards on that team.

For comparison Domi is our eighth guy in TOI, and he has 9 points, while Marchment has 10. Bertuzzi has 8 points, while getting more minutes, and playing with better guys, and has a fairly similar cap hit.

I'd gladly take Marchment over either of these two.

Bert has looked good of late and has a better history than Marchment so I don't know if I'd go that far. Domi has also been good at C. That being said, Marchment is far from a bum like the Dubas boys would have you believe, and to your point he's been productive in his minutes, especially at 5v5.

People also forget that Marchment lost his father it’s still likely fresh on his mind.

The irony of a ref crying for accountability is too much for me to handle.

Tim Peel would still be a NHL ref if it wasn't for getting caught talking about doing a make up call.
Tim Peel is a certified douche, his tweets about Kadri in the past were pathetic and shows that there definitely is ref bias. He's a total meathead who often challenges to fight people
