what did he do?
It was rumoured he never spoke to his team (Cleveland) or responded to texts from them about staying, but instead organized an ESPN special called “the Decision” about where he would play and his team had to find out that way.

This game 7 just shows you how far the Leafs are from doing any damage in the playoffs. They don't have the intensity/passion or willingness to fight thru 4 rounds let alone 1.

Can you see Matthews playing as hard as McDavid or Barkov? Can you see Reilly taking punishment to make plays? Don't even get me started about 16 cause he is the definition of a non-player performer.

Leafs are so far away from the intensity of this game 7
mcdavid fits right in with the leafs here; biggest game of his career game tying goal on his stick and doesnt score...so much intensity and passion!

This will go one of two ways, either McDavid is going to be disgruntled, realize he'll never win with the Oilers, and sign with his beloved hometown Maple Leafs, or he's going to realize that winning a Cup isn't all that important to him and he's content with mediocrity, in which case he'll sign with his beloved hometown Maple Leafs.

Only way McD signs with the Leafs is Oilers just crashed out next playoffs and Leafs made it to the Finals. McD will see that when JT comes off, there is room for him.

Would still rather have McD, Hyman, Drai, Ekholm and Bouchard than Our Core 5.

question is if it’ll be ready in time. Hart is/was a very legitimate very good goalie. it’s too bad
Levi and Hofer probably the 2 youngest ones atm who have shown promise. Levi should be starting for the Sabres next year and Hofer put up good numbers on St Louis. Cossa is another who might see some NHL games soon. Seems like more and more Canadian goalies are getting drafted the last few years so lets hope a few can take over for Canada. I think most goalies can play behind Caada though and look good though so maybe 2026 we'll be stuck using Skinner and Binnington with Levi possibly there for some experience as the young guy.

As long as we don't have Perry, the FIVE times Cup loser, I think we win in the playoffs and probably the Cup, lol.
fr though perry is one of the biggest winners in hockey history. The list of ppl who’ve matched him in winning at all levels is just 1 person - Leafs lost draft pick Scott Niedermayer. That’s it. Anything else he wins after that Ducks run is just gravy at this point

I have an idea. Sign Perry. Sit him in game 7 of scf. Done!

Canada is stack up front and on D(as long as Makar is allow to play).

I think Hill and Binnington are good enough if the D in front are Makar, Toews, Pietra, Theodore, Morrissey, Doughty, Hamilton, Weegar. Then you have McD, Mack, Sid and Point as C with Hyman, Stone, Marchand, Bennett, Reinhart, Bedard, Marchessault, Johnston and company up front.
Just need someone who doesn't give up soft goals at crucial time.

But he is no longer that player though.
I do believe in luck, faith and pre-destiny to some extend and when someone like Hall who in a period of 8-9yrs where his team had more than 50% chance of getting the First Overall pick or Perry being a Four Times loser in the Cup finals over the past 5 years. Thats got to be someone about them that it kept happening.

They have a tough cap situation... I don't see it.

Also, despite playing some decent hockey, Skinner still sucks.
Oilers protected skinner as hell in last 4 games. There were almost no shots coming to him. Team worked so hard on that. Still he gave up that sc winning goal.

It will be many years before yhe stars align for edmonton to reach the finals again. Mcd retires never winning a cup or he leaves edmonton and helps a much better team win.
That was an impressive season edmonton full of ups and fowns, but the correct outcome of bust - no cup, was achieved. Be grateful

It was an easy path to SCF for the oilers: mediocre LA with geriatric Kopitar and listless dubois, Canucks with AHL goalie took them to game 7, depleted Stars, who defeated both champions. So pacific route to the cup is soft as toilet paper.
Yeah. Oilers in Atlantic would not come out of round 1 (except if playing us). 😂
