Frustrating thing about Matthews is it seems like he fizzles out when it’s a hyped up occasion, whether playoffs, a chance to dominate a marquee matchup, the 70 goal hunt.
Most of the time he does. I have seen the national broadcast hype the heck out of him several times and he pulls a no show.

I'm not Canadian but i hate that "cheer for other Canadian teams in some situations" bullshit. This isn't the Olympics, or WJ's, or WC's, etc...these are professional players from all over the world. Employees.

Like I get that those running the NHL treat Canada like their bottom bitch. I get it. It pisses me off too because you all actually care about this sport on a mass scale infinitely more than we do down here (we do better BBQ though!) But you can't call yourself a Flames fan and cheer for the Oilers. You just can't. That's a line you just can't cross. That would be the equivalent of me, as a fan of FSU football and grad school alum, cheering for UF in NCAA football. I would rather DIE than cheer for the Gators.

Like, if we were ever in the Cup finals, let's say we some day have a core that doesn't need endless Cialis in April, you think any of these other fanbases in Canada would cheer for the Leafs? Hell f***ing no. So to hell with all of them.

I'm Canadian and don't give a damn either. Come playoff time, it's my team or no team. Edmonton fans would not cheer for TO if the roles were reversed.

I don't like either of these teams. I dislike the Oilers far more.

An Oilers win would provide max embarassment for this franchise, which is exactly what they deserve; in fact, they deserve far worse. But I really don't know if I can stomach an Oilers victory, I really don't.

Yeah I don't get it either. If the Islanders were in the finals would Rangers fans say "we gotta get behind a NY team. A NY team hasn't won the cup in years".
Exactly.

And if you asked that question on the Rangers board they'd rightfully tell you that they'd cheer for a nuclear meltdown before cheering for the Islanders, and the feeling is mutual.

And that's why sports are great.

What’s the scoop guys, didn’t see a second of the game, up north for weekend. 3-0 score a fair telling of the game?

I'm late but HOLY CRAP no more CapFriendly?!?!??! WHY?!?!

Its the site along with HFBoards that I visit the most where I get my hockey info. Everytime I needed to look up something about a player or a team I'd just go there and now that amazing resource is gone.   I'm sure the owners and creators of the site are making a bundle from the sale, but its just sucks that everytime someone creates something good, it gets sold or taken down or something else happens to it.

JUST ONCE I wish someone would turn down the money and keep it as is for the greater good. CapFriendly has such a great interface and insane amounts of info, now where does one go to find a replacement anywhere near as good?? :( Also SCREW THE CAPITALS FOREVER. WILL ALWAYS ROOT AGAINST THEM FROM NOW ON BECAUSE OF THIS!!

Edmonton out shot them 2 to 1 through 2 periods, with a lot of high quality chances. Bob was on fire. Florida was opportunistic and got an early lead and then another goal in the second. Florida locked it down well in the third though.

Florida had moments but they couldn’t consistently hold their forecheck down and let Edmonton open the game up with their speed.

Not an ideal recipe for success. Maurice probably wasn’t too happy.

This Capfriendly thing is so stupid. Teams will just create their own similar in-house systems and compile the same information that doesn't give any meaningful advantage, and new public sites will eventually pop up. The only thing it does is screw over the fans, and make fans and media even less informed. It's creating a disruption that hurts the game and wastes resources for no actual competitive benefit.

I would be surprised if Florida looked that poor again. It kinda reminds me how they looked against the Leafs last year in games 1/2 before they really imposed themselves on Toronto by game 3 and pretty much ended the series.

It doesn’t look like her really

I’m pretty sure the CN tower has nothing to do with the city? It’s a CN rail is federal right? I could be wrong but I thought so

You are correct. CN tower is federally funded and federal entity. Just happens to be in Toronto

In a way, it's actually a bit of a shrewd move to do this in the lead up to the draft and free agency. A whole new replacement site might not be functional by the time the draft starts.

We've seen from photos at the draft that teams actually use this site to look at hypothetical trades which is funny. The Leafs have their own in-house system, that was built by their analytics department.

Teams that don't have access to their own system, are going to be at a disadvantage
Honestly, any multi million corp should be relying on a free stats site for research.

The fact that teams actually use CapFriendly Openly is really a horrible look for the league.
