Pens got 5 games in hand on Tampa, missing 8 points. I'm not saying they'll make it, but it's still in their hands -if they go on a streak.

I am reading a lot of coping regarding Hyman. He was on an upward trajectory going into his prime years and possessed qualities we needed to retain. Even if Dubas signed him to 5.5 million two years ago, we could have added Bunting for almost league minimum.
It is fun to fantasize with hindsight, but I get the feeling Hyman was looking for an excuse to leave anyway. I remember the Edmonton rumors started swirling at the midpoint of that season. It must have been taxing being one of the few physical players on the team.

What a disaster the Sens are! It seems like they're lightyears away from making the playoffs now.
Their goaltending is so bad, and they have Korpisalo for another 4 years @ 4.0 mill per year cap hit. Not to mention they paid all their players before they proved anything in the NHL. Sanderson's 8 million dollar cap hit comes into effect next year. Oh, and Josh Norris is injury prone. I guess the silver lining is having a high 1st round pick this year

In the past 2 seasons the Senators have traded their first round pick both times.
In 2023 they traded #12 for Chychrun. In 2022 they traded #7 for Debrincat. That seems like horrible asset management. And the sens 1st round pick in 2021 is looking like a bust. You gotta love seeing this team struggle.

Highest number I can find is baseball obviously, but Ernie Banks at 2529 games over 19 seasons.

Good on the Caps and Flyers for hanging around. It was supposed to be a retooling/development year for both teams
But yeah, Devils need to snap out of it and go on a run. The door is open for them to get in because Philly and Tampa aren't great. Gotta beat Anaheim here.

If Josh Norris' injury is as bad as it looks like, maybe career threatening.
It could be that Stutzle is all they have left from the Karlsson trade..... Funny how Stuzle to a nose dive (pun intended) as soon as he got his big contract. Maybe all those Sens fans will stop claiming Timmay is better than Matthews now. lol
