And we could have still won the matthews lottery. McDavid got hurt in 2015 and the leaf rookie crop didn't arrive until the year after
Imagine having McDavid and Matthews. Then drafting Carlo instead of Dermott. Instead of Bracco, Neilsen or Dzierkals, they drafted Cirelli, and Adin Hill. Instead of Timashov, they drafted Kaprizov. Then in the Matthews draft, drafting Adam Fox instead of Korshkov, Hagel instead of Jack Walker.

It took Crosby 88 more games played to hit 600 career assists.

He did it in game #704.
Talent-wise, I think McDavid will ultimately fall behind only Lemieux, Gretzky and Orr (I put them in that order on purpose, because I think Mario is the most talented player to have ever played the game). The problem for Connor is that I'm not sure he will be able to win a Cup with Edmonton, and I don't think he will leave Edmonton when his contract is up.

Kadri-Bozak-Kessel

Would that have worked as a line?

I mean... maybe... but then we needed to move Kessel to bottom out, and Kadri wore out his welcome with immature behaviour... Keeping Bozak as a 3C, would have been the only thing I might change out of those moves.

Canucks have 11 players with 10+ goals. 10 if you don't include Lindholm.

Leafs have 5.

Leafs still right at the top of the Eastern Conference in goals per game, and right there for total goals.

I will find it interesting to see if the Canucks can maintain their depth scoring in the playoffs

Their 5 on 5 team shooting % is high.. no team has finished more than 10% since 2016… theirs is 11.4%.

Overall they’re 24th in the league in shots for… they’re also 20th in Scoring Chances for, and 21st in high danger chances. Of that’s they’re first in the league by a lot in converting those high danger chances.

They have the 7th ranked PP which helps.

Them seem like a paper tiger that come playoff time, when chances dry up that they might struggle to score.

They’ve rode a nice wave of fortune this season .. and sometimes that’s just the way it goes. Should be interesting once the playoffs start.

I go back and forth with this all the time.

Sometimes, for whatever reason it just clicks and every break seems to go your way.

It seems like they have enough top end talent to survive some scoring depth issues if they arise, but they are a tough team to get a read on.

Yup! Taking a deeper dive:

- Hoglander and Boeser are both shooting over 20%
- Joshua, Lafferty, and Suter are all in the 18-19% range

All but Boeser average just over 1 shot per game…

I think you see the ups/downs Lafferty has had and I suppose they just have to have 1 guy remain hot. Those 4 have 52 goals combined and that depth scoring is a big key to their success.

Still thinking it's Vegas Colorado or Dallas coming out of the west.

They got ingredients for a good playoffs run.
Goalie that can steal the series- Demko
True No.1 Dman-Hughes
Clutch scoring-Miller and Petey
Pack mentality- check

They are a good team and won’t be surprised if they make a deep run.

Well I think their flaws can be overmasked in the first round of the playoffs because the division isnt strong.

But they’d have to get past Vegas which is tough.

If Dallas ever gets a solid D-man, then I agree. Colorado will need some help in net

I wouldn't be surprised if they get bounced in the first round, especially if they draw a team like LA.

I think their divisions are pretty strong. Themselves, Vegas and Oilers.
They will probably fight till the last week to secure 1st as nobody wants to face McD and the Oilers in the first round. Like goalies, McD can steal a series on his own.
The top of the West are still Vegas and Avs and there is no doubt about it.

LA is like the Leafs. You just don’t know which version of the team will show up.

Pens looking great tonight.
Meanwhile, I wonder what Florida will do this deadline given all of the UFAs they have. This may be their only year to go for it, as I can't imagine they will be able to keep all of Reinhart, Montour, Forsling, Cousins and Lomberg.
