McLellan is out
There might be a few saying to add him instead of Keefe but I would caution. Todd's biggest negative is what Keefe doesn't have. Overplaying a player that isn't that great unless their name is Justin Holl.

Yeah pass on McLellan. He fails to make adjustments in the playoffs (cost them vs EDM last year) and sticks with ineffective line combinations. He also doesn't really trust his young players.

Having said that, he'd still be the coach if PLD wasn't a disaster....

Todd is a good systems coach and thats pretty much it.
Pretty much like Keefe whose system hasn't reallly been an issue here, and add one more weakness and the same playoff issues. Thats McLellan.
Good point on PLD. I'm not a fan of PLD but didn't think it would be this bad.
Interesting Kings are going with a first time head coach even as an interim. Could just be evaluating and make changes in the off season.

That's why the Leafs should not be a buyer this deadline.

Treliving repeated the same dubas garbage by handing out ridiculous AAVs instead of restructuring the cap for team balance while it seems to be a sellers market.

Leafs are gonna get hosed. I'd rather Leafs be a seller at TDL and sell off Domi, (convince Bert to waive and trade him); trade Brodie, Gio etc....

Next season Leafs are going to have four forwards with 11+ AAV on the roster. Next Tre should also re-tool buy UFA on a 1 year contracts to flip them at TDL

Good year to be selling by the looks of it.
Still holding onto hope we don't flush more assets down the toilet. 🤞

I don’t think the price for Monahan is a reason to stay out of the deadline market altogether. I do think it’s a good reason to stay away from popular targets though.

There are much sneakier, smarter moves we could make that’d be cheaper and arguably more helpful.

Very much so. Not sure if there's such a thing as sneakier but there's a way to make a good move or two without emptying the cupboards.

I’d give solid assets for Matt Roy on the premise they can re-sign him.

Basically avoid pure rentals should be the deadline approach

Monahan for a 1st and conditional pick.

Saavy asset management from Montreal. Acquired 2 1sts in the end for him.

Leafs better not be buyers with this shit market

Imagine what we could get as sellers !!!

In this market, with Kyle Dubas ready to ship out picks. *

* Kyle Dubas has a severe draft pick allergy, hence the reason why he'll get rid of those bastards once and for all !!!

Monahan was the last C on the trade market that filled this criteria:

- Still not 30 years old
- Wins > 50% of his draws
- Can pace 20 goals
- Can play 18 minutes a night.
- Nice cap hit

Going for a late 1st is almost cheap if he plays even half decent for the Jets. Massive depth add that helps them keep ahead of their competition.

*ummm if you sum his entire Habs stats he averages out to a 60 point C that can win > 50% of his draws and play 17-18 minutes a game. What exactly is the fuss about?

Jets look good.

Are they looking for anything else?

Someone to upgrade defense?

Sturm from San Jose

28 years old
Wins 60% of his draws
Can pace 10-15 goals
Can play bottom 6 minutes
2 mil cap hit for rest of this season and next
Shouldn't cost too much in a trade

I think "update" is a bit of a stretch. It's a pretty clumsy way for a police force to admit that they screwed up without trying to admit that they screwed up.
