Is it better to live 100 years as an austere monk or 50 years in abject hedonism?

Lamoriello looks better at 81 years old than I did at half his age. He's easily gonna live to be 100. I'm not sure it's worth giving up all the good things in life just to squeeze out an extra 10 years on this shithole planet though.

I miss Lou.

He's an awesome GM. Lou knows how to build a team the right way. Take it from the net out.

The Leafs team building philosophy is so bizarre.

Stick the cheapest goaltender you can find in net and add a couple pylons for defense. Then try to outscore all your problems. If that doesn't work just throw more money at the exact same four forwards who haven't got the job done yet.

Pray for the best and hope you live long enough to see them reach the promised land.

Just out of curiosity who’s the best D he’s acquired in the last decade?

The only impactful things Lou ever did for the Islanders was hire Barry Trotz and sign Varlamov. The rest of what he has done has been completely irrelevant, or often terrible (see Mayfield and Engvall contracts). I don't get the love affair some people have with him. Virtually all of his success pre-dates the salary cap.

I just keep hearing how much he loves to build from the net out, other than Varlamov, Andersen, and Schneider, who has he actually acquired to build from the net out? Romanov, Greene, Hainsey, Zaitsev seem like his biggest adds on D unless I’m missing someone. Giving away Towes for a pair of 2nds is the best D in a transaction he’s been involved in this decade I believe.

Some Sens fans still consider Brady one who can effect a game very few players are capable of doing anymore. They're right about that.
Him and his brother are two of my favourite players, the Leafs sure could use some of that imo……….

I don't know who you think is better, maybe it would've been smart to provide that information with your statement. When it comes to a line, the middle position is by far the most important and it's quite obvious that Domi is the play driver.
I don't know what you think makes our current one better. Especially if we're talking 3rd lines with a fully healthy forward group.
We've shifted back to a bit more offensively-oriented 3rd line, but the overall quality hasn't really risen.
Also not sure what makes you think Domi is the one driving that line; especially considering it wasn't really clicking until Robertson arrived. Centers are important, but you seem to be exaggerating the relative importance, and yet still simultaneously dismissing a line with, for example, a superior center like O'Rielly.
Domi has been decent enough, but 2/3 of that line had nothing to do with Treliving, and from the sounds of it, Treliving doesn't even like Domi as 3C.

Pretty crazy to see Edmonton in a playoff spot already after their disastrous start.
I so wish we were in the western conference sometimes.

Detroit is retaining half already, making it 2.6.

Then, STL keeps a portion of that.

we should claim him.

It can be a bust, but he has tremendous potential to outperform 1.5-3M cap hit.
Vrana can score, has a great speed, skill, 1 on 1 (assuming he can get back to his original form).

Still 27, the former 13th overall pick.

Struggles with Drug problems, forced into rehab…. Should we draw conclusions as to why his play had dropped again, and why he’s on waivers. Who knows, but in any case, I want that nowhere near my team.

Yes on the first part, the second part - not so much. He contacted NHL assistance program. which backfired on him, since they contacted Detroit and "forced" him into rehab.

Not that it makes much of a difference but still, he wasn't so wasted coach would call him out or anything like that, sure his game declined, but he got busted because he picked up the phone to get help...

It appears that there are differing versions of that story floating around... in any case, I think it's safe to say he's struggled with addiction issues.
