What I don't get is the disdain for Tampa Bay. They built their team through some amazing drafting, and haven't made any irresponsible moves in free agency. Now some of the contracts with the clauses they've handed out to re-sign some of their players has been questionable, but I'd say a good majority of teams would like to be in their position.

I don't like soft teams and I generally like seeing upsets in the playoffs so it has been very easy to root against them. I also don't like there signing advantage RE: state taxes.

I happen to think that Maroon is very underrated and other additions have made them tougher which, IMO, is a big reason why they haven't wilted this time and I don't dislike them as much. I just don't care for them and, petty alert, I'd prefer they stay at one Cup v. picking up the second one in franchise history. Yeah...I'm like that.

Deep thoughts with Jack Handy:

I don't know much about Mark Stone but he has such a punchable face. He always has an obnoxious trollish look on his face. I was less excited seeing Vegas lose this time around but still happy. I can't stand that team and it's largely due to the fans and them being the media's little darlings. I'm fine with them running neck and neck with the Sharks as the most successful unsuccessful team in the west. I hope their fans feel like a crackhead that took their first hit and regret it the rest of their life. Ok, that might be a little extreme but you get the analogy.

Back to their fans, I had my worst experiences at an NHL game at T-Mobile. They say first impressions are everything and that did it for me. While I was there I was trying to decide whether I'm just getting old or if these people are just assholes. I think it's a little of both but many of them are assholes and not because I'm some snowflake. They guy who got in my face with double middle fingers and throwing all kinds of ridiculous insults at me while I was simply trying to go to my seat left before OT in a playoff game in 2018. You are an asshole if you go to an NHL playoff game and leave before there is an OT.

After watching the pre-playoffs, I came away impressed by both Dallas and NYI having not watched much hockey this season due to the uninspiring Kings team. I do think they were the two best teams leading into the Conference Final. Hopefully NYI can claw back in and win their series. That would be my preference. I didn't realize there was that much Tampa Bay hate. It sounds like that is something more rooted in these boards which I don't check as often these days.

I don't know about that, Hedman has some snarl to his game, and yes, he can get scummy like his spear on Hischier and elbow on Clifford.

Literally every one of those clips supports what I'm saying.

Boards Crosby--from behind. Skates away.

Holds Patches, won't drop gloves until refs come by and he gets upper hand.

Same with Foligno--acted tough, held on for dear life for refs to save him, didn't drop gloves until he realized refs wouldn't. Got a couple of good shots in after.

Don't really know what to say about that 'hit' on Tavares. Came all the way across the ice and barely pushed him.

Spear.

Kadri incident like the fights above. Gets tougher when group support arrives.

Clifford incident, enough said. Lined up perfectly for a clean hit, threw elbow instead.

Look he's a big dude so of course he should be able to manhandle people, he's big and strong. He's a spot picker who waits for support and just like Kucherov when it comes to cowardly actions. Maybe 'soft' isn't the word but he's not scary or intimidating, not even chippy, just a coward who takes his shots on opponents who can't defend themselves. Both dudes are just immensely skilled rats.

Hedman's a :eek::eek::eek::eek:. Doesn't get anymore succinct than that.

To be honest, I would have liked to see Alec Martinez lift the Cup for a third time. Especially if it involved a series ending overtime goal. Jazz Hands Forever!

Well, I would rather have the trailing linesman let them play on and have the review determine if it was offside. The puck was behind the linesman who had the NYI blueline.

The puck over the glass penalty isn't new anymore. It's been a part of the game long enough that they should know better. It's really not any worse than any other automatic call.

*whispers* I like the puck over the glass penalty

does it suck to get penalized? yes. It also promotes poise under pressure and keeps the game flowing.

I remember a time when guys would just huck it out of play for any stoppage and a change, it was as awful as repeated icing. You're supposed to get punished with fatigue for getting trapped in your zone.

Chris Chelios was a master at that.

That penalty has made the game undeniably better as defenders can't just skillfully kill the flow of a tight situation with a play out of bounds.

People that complain about that rule suck.

I like calls that are less subjective.

Everyone knows it's a penalty. That's why players point it went over the glass, and the offending team hangs their head.

As you said, it totally sucks to get called. But I think people forget how much the game slowed down when players could flick the puck out of play when under pressure.
