Apparently, the Devils really wanted him, but things went sour over salary/contract. Caps deal is rumored to be 15M over 3 years.

That's a great choice by the Caps. Laviolette is a very good coach and gets a lot out of his players. His teams are generally pretty fun to watch, well balanced attack.

DeBoer apparently said Demko rattled the team in the Vancouver series and they had confidence issues on finish.
If this is true, those are some pretty weak psyches for being goal scorers. Goalies get hot sometimes, and you may lose to one, but big deal you keep shooting the puck. You watch a goalie and see what makes him the most uncomfortable and you keep putting the puck in those areas, and when all else fails you take it right to the net and cause chaos. Vegas didn't do enough to cause chaos around the Dallas net in that series.

Sucks for Martinez, but at least we don't have to watch the VGK win. Now I am indifferent about who wins, though I would prefer not to see Perry win it. I don't even care if he is a geriatric patient that can't skate anymore.

Yeah no kidding. The goalie from the last series got in your head in this one? Vegas honestly did a lot of Kings volume shooting with no heart in a lot of that series, like they were resigned to their fate.

DeBoer is a loser, but a few of those guys have history with that. Patches is regularly a disappearing act. Little shocked at Stone though.

I thought the goal by Kiviranta was a perfect example of a goal scorer doing what a goal scorer does. How many guys just put a forehand right back on net hoping it sneaks under the goalies pad and it ends up with the goalie freezing the puck? A goal scorer knows where there is room to score and takes the high-percentage shot. Don't get me wrong it was a great shot, but the kid did the only thing a true goal scorer does in that situation, which is throw his hands at the top of the net on the shot. If he was unlucky, he hits the crossbar, but he knew where the opening was to score.

Vegas' players were just hoping to blow a hole through Khudobin.

Vegas actually has yet to recover from Adrian Kempe's faceoff goal against them. They're still stunned by that.

We were also repeatedly told that Ryan Reaves would be a huge factor in the Golden Knights' triumphant run to the Stanley Cup Final.

Slava was a big reason. Missed the playoffs by one point and traded assets to fill that hole short term.

I for one blame Slava Voynov.

As of much of a douche as he was for abusing his wife, he was our clear #2 D behind Doughty. His getting rightfully tossed out of the league for that **** ruined our depth on defense.

Really, that whole title defense season post-Voynov felt like one major letdown just waiting to happen. The team legit never looked or felt the same after his off-ice shenanigans.

1. I can't believe we have to witness Perry's ugly smug in the finals, but good lord I think I prefer them over the Lightning.
2. I dislike the Lightning.
3. f*** the Knights.

Wild signed Brodin to that 7 year $6 million AAV extension. I was wondering how long it would take for any team to extend/sign a guy for more than $4 million.

I’ll be pulling for Dallas too just so we don’t have to suffer years of “the Lightning are the best post lockout team since 2005 and it’s not even close.”

If Tampa does make it to The Final, I think they will be able to solve Khudobin.

What I don't get is the disdain for Tampa Bay. They built their team through some amazing drafting, and haven't made any irresponsible moves in free agency. Now some of the contracts with the clauses they've handed out to re-sign some of their players has been questionable, but I'd say a good majority of teams would like to be in their position.

Dirty, douchey players that fly under the radar, hit-and-runners, heroes in scrums when refs show up and when players' backs are turned. See Hedman on Clifford. Habit of doing dirty selfish things and not answering the bell once the game is well out of hand. If the name on this jersey was anything but Kucherov, we'd have heard a lot more noise:

Being proclaimed as a model franchise as early as 2014 without having won a thing, see 2000s Sharks.
Stevie Y is the best GM in the league AINEC without having won a thing and while loading a roster with NTCs despite having all sorts of leverage.
A large contingent of posters who have been shit talking Drew Doughty for a half a decade.

They're in a great position but they've been talking shit for over half a decade. It's been put up or shut up time for a few years.

I remember when some people called Tampa a soft/finesse team...

Hedman is very much like Chris Pronger, an opponent many hate, but I think someone you have to respect because he can pretty much do it all. To me, he's been the best player in these playoffs.

I guess I never noticed the shit talking or paid any attention to it. Their fans don't seem that annoying compared to what we've seen and dealt with in the past.

He's definitely not Chris Pronger. He's a big softie unless he can get away with it, just like Kucherov.

Immensely skilled player and no argument on his ability.

I don't know about that, Hedman has some snarl to his game, and yes, he can get scummy like his spear on Hischier and elbow on Clifford.
