Someone in the Yandle trade thread brought up Barrie too and I don't hate it. Free asset, 29, needs fresh start, probably deflated his value especially in this market, good on the PP, and we've been linked to him before.

If a depleted Tampa Bay team hangs on to beat the NYI, Dallas may win this thing.

If that was what it would take to get Edmundson, I am glad he got it from somewhere else.

Any Barrie signing would have to be only 2 years for me to get on board. UFA so no cost to obtain and he certainly would not be getting $5 million AAV. Considering the year he had and the pandemic, maybe $3-4ish?

4 year deal for Edmondson... Eesh. I'm just happy that it's not a 1 year deal with us, but 4 years!?

Montreal has cap space for days. We were half crazy for signing Mitchell for two years. Ended up being the crazy best two years.

Now with Barrie. I’d offer Barrie 3.75x3 years. Probably won’t get it done but a lot of teams are so cash strapped the market might not have a lot of offers out there.

I like Alec Martinez, but on the best team he ever played on, he was a bottom pairing defenseman. That tells us how good that team was, and how this Vegas team can't even come close to the 2012-2015 Kings teams.
Pretty much. I don’t blame him for saying it, he’s not gonna throw his teammates under the bus, but bullshit is as bullshit does.

Scuderi got 4 years, at a higher % of the cap, and was 4 years older at the time of the signing.

I'm ok with the dollar amount for him providing stability on a 3rd pairing (but certainly questionable in a flat cap – I think this has yet to be seen around the league, so good for him to get traded and signed at this point in time), but the term is too long for me. 2, maybe 3 years would have been much more palatable.

He plays a much different game than Scuderi. Maybe he can re-invent himself to last longer like Brown, but who knows? Also, Scuderi played 1st line minutes with Doughty, so I don't see the comparable.

For the Habs, that's a good deal. He's only 27 and will provide them with grit as well. I watch almost all the Canes games and saw how what a good and reliable defender he was. and was a key part of PK work, logging lots of minutes. Used correctliy, partnered with Petry on the 2nd pairing, he'll be a good fit.
THey gambled on Chariot, who has been far better in Montreal than he was in Winnipeg.

Sabres got their 2nd line center, trading for Eric Staal from the Wild in exchange for forward Marcus Johansson, who they weren't going to extend.

He should he a good mentor for Cozens, and has history with Skinner for a few years.

Wonder how Stall feels about heading to Buffalo. I don't think the Sabres organization has the best reputation in the league, especially with veteran players. It's been a shit show there.

Positives for Stall are, as you noted Skinner and he also played with Sabres current GM, Kevyn Adams in Carolina.

Would not mind that at all. Always been a fan of Jaime Benn.

Rick Bowness has done a great job behind the bench. Khudobin is writing a nice story too.

It would also be fitting after losing to St. Louis in Game 7 OT last year. I think most forgot how close Dallas was to the ECF just last season. They pushed the Blues more than any team other than Boston.
