n an effort to trim their salary cap, the Penguins traded forward Nick Bjugstad to the Minnesota Wild on Friday night.
The Penguins will receive a conditional pick in the 2021 draft in exchange for the 28-year-old Bjugstad
Also, some head coaches on their final year. Wonder if teams trimming salaries/expenses will affect that.
Dallas vs Tampa? Would have been good to see Tampa vs Vegas.
What a weird series. Vegas has dominated every area except face offs and the scoreboard. Maybe those Corsi haters were right all along.
This series between Dallas and Vegas is reminding me of what the Kings went through in the 2018 playoffs in getting thoroughly outplayed with their goalie saving their asses. The only difference is Dallas is finding ways to win and they're frustrating the hell out of the pissants on the Golden Knights.
One thing Dallas is doing that our team failed at: limiting the amount of high-quality shots their goalie has had to face.
Khudobin obviously has been awesome when needed but his workload isn't as huge as Quick's was.

Quick let in seven goals in 270 minutes against Vegas in 2018, Khudobin has let in 6 goals in 220 minutes so far against Vegas this year.
The real difference is that Dallas, with only six goals so far in the series, has outscored the Kings by half. Crazy how little offense the Kings generated.
Vegas power play is totally predictable. Khudobin was able to anticipate almost every shot and square up, push out and challenge the shooter.
Perhaps try more screens or just creating a goal mouth scramble would be more effective. Vegas needs to understand goals are most likely to come with shots within 10 feet of the Dallas net.

I disagree, if you look at the age of the Islander players' contracts when they expire, the cap hit, and the ability of the team to compete, they don't have the same issues with which the Kings are saddled.
The NYI biggest problem is they are currently in the toughest division in the NHL.
Which contracts are good on the Islanders? Granted, they have no $10m+ cap hits, because they haven't had to pay for winning, but many of the 30+ year olds on the team have 3, 4, 5, 6 years left on their contracts. That's not good. They're not going to be able to trade those guys anymore than the Kings have been able to trade anyone that had more than a year left on their contract.
