What a weird series. Vegas has dominated every area except face offs and the scoreboard. Maybe those Corsi haters were right all along.

A 5 on 3 goes to waste. Poor Vegas, got all the breaks and got nothing to show for it. I'm just so bummed.

And as much as I hate Perry, that was a straight up pick/interference the refs let go when Tuch drilled him to the ice. Vegas playoff rules.

n an effort to trim their salary cap, the Penguins traded forward Nick Bjugstad to the Minnesota Wild on Friday night.

The Penguins will receive a conditional pick in the 2021 draft in exchange for the 28-year-old Bjugstad

Also, some head coaches on their final year. Wonder if teams trimming salaries/expenses will affect that.

Nobody's going to hire Babcock and his 10 mil a year salary. With very little income, the money will be spent elsewhere.

Vegas power play is totally predictable. Khudobin was able to anticipate almost every shot and square up, push out and challenge the shooter.

Perhaps try more screens or just creating a goal mouth scramble would be more effective. Vegas needs to understand goals are most likely to come with shots within 10 feet of the Dallas net.

This series between Dallas and Vegas is reminding me of what the Kings went through in the 2018 playoffs in getting thoroughly outplayed with their goalie saving their asses. The only difference is Dallas is finding ways to win and they're frustrating the hell out of the pissants on the Golden Knights.

One thing Dallas is doing that our team failed at: limiting the amount of high-quality shots their goalie has had to face.

Khudobin obviously has been awesome when needed but his workload isn't as huge as Quick's was.

Yeah I mean they're running up the shot count but I counted at least 5 'shots' from below the goal line/wannabe wrap arounds.

They're getting some dangerous chances but it's not as lopsided as it looks on paper. Flow of play advantage to VGK but this is exactly the type of game Dallas wants.

Quick let in seven goals in 270 minutes against Vegas in 2018, Khudobin has let in 6 goals in 220 minutes so far against Vegas this year.

The real difference is that Dallas, with only six goals so far in the series, has outscored the Kings by half. Crazy how little offense the Kings generated.

Khudobin is having a hell of a run.

As soon as I saw the old Tippet special of two forwards below the goal line on a 5v3, I knew the game and series was likely kaput for VGK. Special teams have really failed Vegas this series.

Man, I am so sad that Kings wasted Quick's tremendous efforts in that round because we couldn't score and now he's fallen off some.

I disagree, if you look at the age of the Islander players' contracts when they expire, the cap hit, and the ability of the team to compete, they don't have the same issues with which the Kings are saddled.

The NYI biggest problem is they are currently in the toughest division in the NHL.

Which contracts are good on the Islanders? Granted, they have no $10m+ cap hits, because they haven't had to pay for winning, but many of the 30+ year olds on the team have 3, 4, 5, 6 years left on their contracts. That's not good. They're not going to be able to trade those guys anymore than the Kings have been able to trade anyone that had more than a year left on their contract.

Anders Lee - Contract ends age 36 (not good, but he is leading by example and is effective)
Brock Nelson - Contract ends age 33 (good deal, especially considering the cap hit)
Jordan Eberle - Contract ends age 34 (acceptable)
Andrew Ladd - Contract ends age 37 (bad, but can be traded)
Josh Bailey - Contract ends age 34 (acceptable, especially considering the cap hit)
Jean-Gabriel Pageau - Contract ends age 33 (good deal, especially considering the cap hit)

None of these contracts will prevent the Islanders from re-signing Barzal, or any of their other RFAs, and they will still have a fair amount of flexibility.

I don't like the Varlamov deal, especially the NTC.

The Kings on the other hand are just now coming out of their mess, but still have a ways to go.

I kinda want VGK to win a game, just to push the end of the season a couple days closer to the draft. If NYI can push it to 6 or 7, that would be fine.

Vegas swept the Kings on LA's last time in the PO's so it's reasonable for LA to root for Dallas - it doesn't mean LA is cheering for Dallas to win the cup
( normally LA would be backing VGK because of Martinez vs Perry ).
