The Islanders might suddenly become much more threatening

Interesting development

Long Island fans must be super pumped. And all this mere days after Wang leaves too! Happy day for them, that's great news

The islanders are severely becoming overrated right now.

They are still a bubble team. Yes they got Boychuk, but we have no idea how he is going to play for them. He is coming from a team with a great defense and a great goaltender to a team that has a average goaltender and defense that has a ton of question marks.

The Islanders have a decent team that has underperformed in part due to goaltending

Since last year they got Halak and Boychuk who are both solid players (not a huge fan of Halak but he's good): they want to make a push now that Wang is done and I like how they are going about it

Going to be tough for the Islanders to get Leddy. They don't have much in the way of picks left, and they need to keep their kids.

But good for them to start picking up some more talent. That team has some strong potential.

They already acquired Leddy according to sources.

I honestly find it hilarious how hf boards are saying that the Isles are a playoff lock now.

They said the same thing about the Sens last year.

Playoff lock? No, but I think they improved their chances.
Added Boychuck, Leddy and Halak increases their back end.

Lets not forget that Boychuck and Leddy are coming from great teams to an average team.

Leddy was also apparently sheltered on the Hawks as well.

All i am just trying to say is that i not instantly going to say that the Isles improved at all until i see how they play on the ice.

I never thought I would say this, but I'm kind of excited for Islanders fans right now. They've suffered a long time, and with these upgrades they are a better team. Will still take a couple of years to actually get good, but the moves this summer have been awesome.

The Boychuck move mind end up being crap for them being that he may chose not to resign just like Vanek did.

As i said before, i wouldn't yet call them a better team at all. They need to prove it on the ice before i call them a better team. The Sens were thought to be a better team when they traded for Ryan, but look what happened?

Better and worse is relative to where you are coming from. The Islanders were 5th worst in the league last season, while the Sens that fell were coming off of a playoff appearance. To put it another way, the Sens that that were worse last season were still better than the Islanders.

So yeah, the Islanders got better. Or they get McDavid/Eichel.

yes
Yikes. Way too much for Boychuk.

Boston board is currently in "1st world problems" mode. QQ
