Makar is back after a few weeks off from an injury. Thursday's game is going to be a real test. Hope the boys will be ready. I think the Avs will make the playoffs and do damage if they can stay healthy.

Same.. Remember how TB slinked in as 8th seed last year and knocked off the Leafs.. I dont trust cup champs... even if they lost some talent this season.

They should be better still have most of their top guys on the team, although Landeskog have been out for awhile. Definitely some cup hangover this season, but yeah I would not want to play the Aves in the first round for sure.

I am, more so this year than others, wholly unimpressed by guys 'showing out' on terrible teams.

Let me know what guys like that can do when the games are meaningful.

Just kind of sick of hearing "wow imagine what ______ could do on a good team" year after year for some players when by and large the answer is, when they have to play meaningful hockey against tough opponents, their offensive totals drop like a rock and their full game is on display. Thats when we find out who a player really is.

In full agreement but a big part of it is that 3 of the absolute basement dwellers this season are big historical rivals for Los Angeles. There's no "loveable loser" angle for me when we're talking about the Ducks, Sharks and Blackhawks.

This will actually only be the fourth season where the Kings finish ahead of both Anaheim and San Jose, the others being 97-98, 99-00, and 20-21.

People said the same thing about Kopitar, he was just a player doing empty things on a bad team, while the players down south showed up in bigger moments. Kopitar didn’t win a playoff series until his 6th season in the NHL, not his fault, he just was on a terrible team while Getzlaf and Perry were on good ones.

A lot of it is just opportunity, it’s the NHL, not the NBA or a QB in the NFL. There is only so much one player can do.

It seems a lot of you put Zegras in a damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t situation. If he weren’t scoring he’d be criticized, but even though he is scoring he is still criticized. It seems pretty unfair.

Given it's Perry, I am totally conflicted about this.

I keep waffling between whether the stick blade or butt end would have been more efficient.
Goalie's blocker is more efficient.

I guess Zegras doesn't have the skill to roof a backhand.

A player can't have the circumstances of a bad team held against them. That much is true.

I DO think with Zegras, there are questions of his maturity and how rattled he gets when frustrated, which I think can be called into question when we think about just how much tougher playoffs get.

We don't have these discussions with Boldy, or Seider, or most other players from the 2019 draft (Caufield may be the biggest exception, but he also showed acquitted himself fairly well when the playoffs happened; AND the criticisms against him has never been attitude). Zegras' overall attitude IS a question.

It may sound unfair, but he's also brought this perception on himself.

And you can't really say it's because he's a Ducks player, either - nobody says anything bad about Mason McTavish.

Some may even argue that people are unfair in criticisms about Stutzle. Again, nobody is questioning his skillset, but some of his on-ice antics, namely his flagrant diving, have people wondering how he will behave in the playoffs when checking is much tighter and harder.

I think people also take issue with the fact that a lot of Zegras’s flashy plays don’t come out of necessity. It’s one thing to make something happen out of an impossible situation, but this play and the Michigan are plays where he’s just trying to be flashy. Good on him for making it count but he had several other options he could have gone with so I think that rubs people the wrong way. Kopitar never played that way.

i moreso just don't care about it.. it's a nice goal, it's a cool exhibition of skill. you'll take a goal any way you can get it. but he was also on the ice for 2 against and they lost 5-2

it's just kinda like, sick you hit the clip, kid. you didn't help your team win the game very much beyond that. just not gonna put much effort into making that a positive about him

Its going to be a great test for us and am hoping we come out on top
