Ron Francis
2 seasons
2 drafts
1 coach
No star players to begin with
1 franchise player drafted
1 playoff series win (and maybe more)
Didn't trade his 1st rounder in 202
How many playoff series did he win with Carolina?

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

If there’s one coach in the league who has earned some rope it’s Sutter, but he hung himself with it. So outdated. Continued to think if his team just outshot the opponent it would win most of its games. Turns out it’s more important to outscore your opponents.

McLellan is still in the same mindset as Sutter.

hahahha, and they just signed him to a 2 year $8 million contract that kicks in next season

Obviously all the rumors of the players refusing to play for him were true.

DS needs to just retire back to his farm and call it a career. This was like Mike Ditka returning to the NFL with the Saints.

It doesn't show much of anything.
Since we're comparing GMs... Ron Francis was only the General Manager of the Hurricanes for 4 seasons (2014-2018). Blake just completed his 6th, and will be entering his 7th draft with his first pick being in the 55 range, because he traded his second first in a row leading to a first-round exit.

Francis got further in his second year with the Kraken than Blake has got in his 6th season. And Francis didn't have a cup-winning core to work with.

This is the literal black hole - which people mistakenly use for "just barely missing the playoffs". The actual black hole is when you give up your future assets to improve the team immediately, but the team has not progressed further along since the transaction.

I'm going with Dallas as my bandwagon team for the second round. They're likable for the first time in a long time.
I picked Dallas vs Boston as the finals. Hard to dislike Robertson or Heiskanen except when they play the Kings and light them up. Probably just going to root for them if Seattle doesn't make it all the way through (Seattle's my second team since I live up here now; my stepbrother who I got into hockey is a Bruins fan, so I would have been happy if they won, too).

Flames ownership has been and continues to be the issue here. They have an above average GM in treliving, and even if you disagree with that a large reason why the two did not agree on an extension is because Sutter was there. They then fire sutter anyway!

Murray Edwards is an idiot, when Johnny left and then Mathew wanted out the time to rebuild was clear. In stead he continues with his M.O. of always icing a bubble team. Treliving swings a huge deal with the Panthers and does not work because coach and player do not coexist (Lots of rumors Sutter was an ownership hire to begin with).

Flames will be stuck till Edwards backs off or croaks.

Can't go wrong with DeBoer. He loves making the Finals. Devils, Sharks, VGK, and now probably the Stars. They also had Strader, RIP

I'm rooting for Seattle, being that the Firebirds are my local team. It was way cool to watch Tye Karte play all season here and then make a big impact on his first NHL game.

Gallant was the coach when Vegas went to the final.

On a different note, imagine being a Bruins fan next season with a new Presidents Trophy banner to remind you until the end of time what an absolute failure this season was.

Also, is it me or do M Tkachuk (with a playoff beard) and Draisaitl look like the same person? They even both do the mouthguard chewing.
