Yotes also get the boot from that OEL buyout

Hilarious that it happened to the team that essentially exists to allow others to stay under the cap.

Also, if the Coyotes move after next year, then it gets even better: Arizona trades OEL and retains salary, Vancouver buys him out, Arizona gets stuck with one year of retention from the buyout, and then wherever they move to gets stuck with the additional seven.

Some poor fan in Houston or Salt Lake City is going to be trying to build a team on CapFriendly in 2030 and get frustrated that they can't facilitate a trade because OEL takes up a retention spot:laugh:

Imagine if they had already used up the 3 retained salary for next season; how would have worked out?

Not only is the buyout horrible, the initial trade for OEL is looking so bad for the Canucks

Remember they also acquired Garland in that deal, who is on the outs and now is considered a cap dump (almost a buyout candidate).

In that deal they gave up the 9th OA pick which turned out to be Dylan Guenther who has had a nice start to his career post draft.

Random Saturday thought - is Bob tradeable this summer?

He'll be 35 with 3 years left going into next season. Its a back diving with an aav of 10M. Relatively average season going into playoffs, where he obviously had a great run. Florida's been quick to switch away from his at various times over his deal.
