I imagine I'm in the minority but I care very little about a player once they leave.

Depends on the outcome for me..

Letting Zach Hyman walk for $5.5 mil while keeping Kerfoot @$3.5 mil & Holl @$ 2.0 for the same cap bugged me as a poor decision.

However now BT our new GM let Kerfoot and Holl walk and signed Tyler Bertuzzi for $5.5 mil to replace the roster spot on a top line (where Hyman would have been) and corrected a past mistake.

So its not just about the player, but how it impacts the Leafs by these decisions. This correction makes the previous mistake more acceptable for me despite Hyman being my Fav Leaf. .

wow when did Jarry (28) and DeSmith (31) both get so old lmao
Same way I feel about McDavid and Crosby and Ovechkin etc ahah. Time passes and you don't even realize it.

I still can't believe Pierre Engvall got a 7 year contract and there isn't multiple threads about this lol.
It's pure insanity. He was 0.5PPG though with the Isles so I guess they think he will get 40-50 points over the next 7 seasons.

A lot of the people who hated Engvall also liked Lou, so I imagine most who would usually discuss departed players would rather sweep it under the rug this time.
I'm just confused by what the Isles see Engvall as. They tried him as a top 6 and it didn't go very well, but you usually don't give depth players 7 year contracts, especially when they don't already have an engrained spot in your roster.

This was from July 1st.

Seems reasonable.. he still put up 74 points last year and he's a good C on the defensive side.

Under rated guy who's had a nice career.

Agreed. A higher AAV to keep the term low is probably the correct play for them.

Apologies if this is in the wrong place.

We're looking for some new GMs to join us over on the GM Games forum.

We have a new game that is taking sign-ups now, for anyone who wants to make the offseason go by a bit quicker.

Happy to discuss!

All that spending without a reliable goalie in sight all but wipes the Los Angeles threat off the boards for any kind of Matthews free agency destination. They are really locked into what they have, total arms race vs Edmonton and Vegas.
