You don’t trade 1C potential for #2/3 potential. You could be trading a Kaprizov for a Brodin because you’re impatient.

We have:
Brodin-Faber
XXXX-Spurgeon

For the long term. Personally, I hope we snag Levshunov at the draft. If not him, then another D. Maybe that giant dman would look good next to Spurgeon.
Spurgeon has had injuries ... I don't know if he'll make it much longer.

The Wild also got many more years out of Brodin than Kaprizov including multiple playoff years. Hell Brodin has played almost triple the amount of games Kaprizov has had and the Wild don't have to worry about Brodin walking at the end of his contract. Also I'd be expecting more of an Adam Fox or Quinn Hughes type of player coming back than Jonas Brodin.

It's not just impatience it's about window of opportunities, if Yurov signs back in the KHL and for how long and what type of prospect/player the Wild get back.

So when you typed “top 3” you actually meant “top 1”?

Top 3; Fox, Trouba and Miller are within 30 seconds of each other.

Hughes is a more traditional 1 guy, so that's fair.

I just want a point producing defenseman. Faber is going to be good, but he's more the traditional two-way defenseman.

Sorry, I was interpreting it more as Fox is a Norris winner and Hughes is probably on his way there this year.

Dumba has 5 points in 32 gp, while avg a bit over 20 minutes per night. That's one more point than Bogo and Merrill, in way more minutes played. Oof. Seems like he is one of those guys who is going to fade quickly as he heads into his 30's.

I think he quit the minute he left Minny.

Reactions: Minnesota
Marcus's brother Nick Foligno signed a 2 year contract extension with a $4.5m AAV.

They are pretty comparable players so Marcus contract is in the ballpark of what he could get on the open market.

The contract might be similar but the team's cap situation is very different.

Chicago is more likely to worry about hitting cap floor than wasting cap space. Hawks probably made a conscious decision to overpay for short-term veteran leadership, and Nick chose money over cup chasing.

This huge open ice hit last night is something we don't see much anymore, but that kid Lilleberg has been throwing big hits since Tampa picked him up.

The Wild will face them next week, better keep an eye on him. Lilleberg is a Norwegian kid, so Zuccarello should be safe -)

Watching the Habs and Avs right now and I like that all of the ads... the physical ads that are actually on the boards are done in progress pride colors.

The Islanders hired Patrick Roy as their coach. Oh man, that teams bench is about to become really f***ing entertaining. His meltdowns when he coached the Avs were always the best.

It's a shame Parise is retired. That would be fun to watch.

Not quite retired. But probably not an Isler, sadly.

Eyes on Isles, January 5th
However, last month, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reported the veteran forward was ramping up skating and that "multiple contenders" were vying for Parise's services. If Parise comes back, it's partly for the love of the game he surely missed come September but also because he's ultra-competitive and still chasing that elusive Stanley Cup.

I'm concerned Guerin may trade for Reaves. Apparently he's unhappy in Toronto (they have him on the IR, but he says he's can play). Guerin and re-treads...

Won't pick up that contract. He would've signed here if he was offered that.

All I'm going to say is that based on the main board, speculation will get you banned.

Coincidence or not, a number of NHLer's have taken a leave of absence in the past 24 hours. Posting names is likely banned until there is any confirmation.

Apparently names aren't made public till they are charged, in Canada, and that charging is done when surrendering to the police. Won't be long.

I can't say I blame them. I've seen 5 names of guys who were given leaves of absence, and if one of them happens to have gotten it for another reason, it sure would suck to get lumped in with the guys accused of sexual assault.

Not a big deal, IMO. IT will become evident who is, and who is not being charged, shortly.

I feel like most people wouldn't want to be mistakenly labeled a sexual assaulter, even if it's proven false later on.

Or having their friends and family having to speculate if it's true or not (though they probably already have, with how long this case has been going on).
