Remember when Chicago “won” the draft lottery in 2019 and moved up 9 spots? GM said this changed everything and drafted Dach at three. Didn’t work out so Chicago was given a redo, and selected Bedard. Pretty sketchy……..
 
Leo Carlsson looks like a great player already and hes playing in like his 2nd or 3rd game.

That Zegras Carlsson Terry line is kinda nasty.
 
Just caught the end of the Detroit/Calgary game on the NHL Network. Detroit has Larkin, Debrincat and Raymond all on a line. What are they doing?

Sounds like they don't have enough grit in their top six, maybe that's why they're only...5-1 and on top of their division?

I've heard they have a lousy locker room...zero pranks, and lame team dinners. Who cares about their record?

I thought he could be better with a proper camp and healing up but never to this level. I also didn’t fully appreciate how much his injuries were hampering his game and his confidence.

Sabre's fans seem to be pretty happy with Greenway this year. This quote is just one of them but seems fairly representative of the sentiment over there. Personally, I'm glad he's doing well there. He got a lot of flack for the way he was playing the last two years, but I love to see a guy turn it around, especially if his poor play was due to injuries and a lack of confidence. Maybe Guerin traded the wrong middle-6 forward. Probably the only mistake he'll ever make.:sarcasm:

I don't understand the rules I guess.

So the NHL partners with a myriad of sports gambling institutions to make money for itself. Shane Pinto gets suspended 41 games for gambling on sports while technically not under contract, possibly in the offseason? NHL finds no evidence that Pinto bet on any NHL games. Why is he suspended half a season? I'm sure I missed something somewhere...

Devil is in the details, I guess.

There are scenarios where any suspension makes no sense, and scenarios where 41 games might be too light.

If I read the report right he didn’t even bet on hockey. I’m failing to understand how what he did is an issue…

I assumed that just means he was feeding insider information to a friend or making bets through someone else.

It's certainly a bit odd to have such a severe suspension but only release vague details. It's like they're encouraging rampant speculation.

The worry is that he will get in debt to a gambling organization, and rather than pay it, will be offered the chance to "pay" in either insider information, or by changing his performance during games. It's a situation as old as the hills.

If you cannot trust your own employees that are allegedly held to high standard of conduct to ethically use a product, then why are you peddling it down the throats of the mass population? It is at minimum short sighted, but most likely just morality bankruptcy and greed for profit that has the NHL running this mixed messaging. Pick a lane and stick with it you two faced schmucks.

$$$$... c'mon, man, don't be naive. Mainstream businesses have been doing things for decades(centuries) that harm people, as long as it makes a buck. Leaded gasoline, DDT, and cigarettes are just a few examples.

I’m aware, it’s the duplicity about it that irks me. Promoting something that your organization specifically bans… no respect for that behavior from me.
 
Holy hell, I just read the news. That is absolutely heartbreaking. There's nothing I can say, but I'll keep his family and friends in my thoughts.

There've been several close calls with skate blades and necks over the years just in the NHL, it's a wonder to me that neck protection hasn't become a thing for skaters yet. Hopefully it does, soon.

Neck guards were a thing in minor hockey for a while, but seem to have gone by the wayside. I don't get it. They are helping to protect a vital area, not only from skate blades, but pucks, sticks, elbows, etc. It's not like they are uncomfortable, or restrict movement.

Well, that last sentence is where you will find the disagreement amongst the players, though I think they have come a very long way from the old ones. People tend to be particular about their necks, even if it’s only psychological, any feeling of restriction to breathing in a high intensity cardio sport like this is going to make some players feel conflicted.

Having said that, I personally always wear it in any kind of setting with physical play and will be making it mandatory for my own children if they play.
