Called today versus, say 2016? Not much different all. You're trying to talk yourself out of the simplest explanation for some reason.
You keep saying I'm talking about 1 factor, when I'm talking about multiple factors... unless you truly believe someone like Pavelski is better today than a decade ago... maybe the game is just more open overall today than 10 years ago.

None of the factors that you’re talking about are new. Two expansion teams are.

Dubas fired in Toronto. Apparently had the balls to ask for a substantial raise on his already high salary.

His contract wasn't renewed, not really fired. Dubas looked/sounded burnt-out at the end of year presser.

I think he got out at the right time. He has a great regular season record as GM, so he'll easily get another GM job when he wants one. Contracts are ending in the next 2 years for almost the whole team, the prospect pool is about barren, and there isn't a lot of draft capitol; so there is cleanup to be done. That falls onto the next guy to clean up and not him.

Whoever ends up as TOR's GM is won't be able to do anything without 5 people asking about the future of the big-4. I mean GMBG got butthurt and went off when asked about Fiala and Talbot last year. Could you imagine what he would do in the TOR media circus?

Oh, I can imagine, having lived there for years.

Dubas had an offer on the table(reputedly 5 x 4M), but tried to squeeze more money, and possibly concessions from Shanahan, who balked, quite understandably, at amking him the best paid GM in the game.

There are very, very few teams that would offer Dubas 4M/yr. I also have a different opinion than you of what he has done there. IMO, he has done an awful job of managing the cap, and has mortgaged the future betting on a present that has not materialized. They have no 2nd, 3rd, or 4th pick this year. No 2nd next year. No 1st, 2nd, or 4th in 2025.

Just watch any of Vegas' goals lol
So, Suter is at fault on the 1st goal(5 on 3) and the 3rd(wasn't on the ice)? On the 2nd goal he should've been better, but the forward who was covering the goal scorer was also lax.

I'd say his two assists more than made up for his one mistake.
