He’s an awesome player and proving it by hitting his stride right nowI'd laugh if Fiala lights the lamp all night when he comes back to the x

We will add at the deadline if the flames keep slumping, then get bounced first round and have a shitty pic just like every year.Calgary may be more dysfunctional than Wild
Whoa… he’s very young. Hopefully he can nip it in the bud. Hopefully he has support around him, besides the professionals.Spencer Knight into the Players Assistance program. I hope he gets whatever help he needs, it would be awful to see his career (and life) de-railed before it really even starts.
I usually take deadline day off of work to watch TSN all day. Probably not much point in doing that this year now with Meier going off the board. Who’s all left at this point? lol
It was entertaining last year, it may be a little sad this year. I mean, I have it off so I may as well keep it off but still. You don't want to watch the talking heads try and kill time and fake excitement for depth trades? That has some entertainment value in it's own right.

Guerin doesn’t have the imagination for that. TBF, few GM’s do, but if would’ve gotten something like a 1 st + from a team who fancied themselves a contender last year like VAN, FLA, or even STL we’d be in fine shape going into the draft. The Meier trade and Jeannot trade are far too close in return for my liking. Really makes you wonder what we could’ve gotten for Foligno if we would’ve traded him (50% retained) to Tampa after last season.
I think the value of first round picks, especially the back half of the first round, is starting to decrease, and rightfully so. I think they’re still overvalued. When you think about hit rate and how long you have to wait for them to actually be NHL players if they do hit, it’s makes them a whole lot less appealing. Outside of the top 8-12 in most drafts, it feels like drafting is a crapshoot, and more often than not you get players that are easier to find through other means (bottom 6guys and bottom pairing). I’d rather pick 10th than 20th and 21st any day. If I were managing a team, I’d almost always be willing to give up 2 or 3 late first round picks for a proven NHL player that is at least relatively young. Certainty is worth so much. When we come out of the buyouts, I’d hope we’re willing to move a ton of futures for the top guys that hit the market. Let’s just take this years crop as an example. I’d hope we move for a guy like Meier, and I’d hope we either sign Larkin in FA/make a push to sign him or trade for the next big center that hits the market.
I think the point would be to do it when you already have an established group that you know you can win with, and then you can toss picks away to continue to supplement that. Fletcher forgot the first part.I've had this line of thinking for years. It's why I don't care the Fletcher traded away picks in his time here.
Agreed, though I would say that it seems teams are getting better at picking players than they used to. A top 16 pick is still pretty nice to have, partially because you have a chance to move up spots, and partially because you can get players like Caufield, Mercer, and good Dmen like Guhle.I think the value of first round picks, especially the back half of the first round, is starting to decrease, and rightfully so. Pretty @#$%y of the Kings to move Quick when he was probably going to retire in a month or two. Just made sense he finished with the Kings.
This is a move that can backfire and send an angry locker room into chaos.I can't wait to see the tribute to Quick in 2 weeks when CBJ is in LA.

Oh I wasn't referring to a tribute....just the trade in general. They'll get over it. It might be a rough game for LA, but it would be insulting to all the players and fans if they did nothing for Quick in his first trip back.
