yea that was a bad one too lolPhil Kessel for two 1sts and a 2nd has to rank worse than the Kadri deal.

The deal was always bad, from the moment it was made.
Toskala trade... Kessel trade... Leetch trade... Stempniak trade... etc.

they were supposed to go up but instead went down with Phil lolI'd have to agree since we're talking about evaluating at the time of the trade. Kessel obviously brought much more value to the team than Barrie did or Kerfoot will. However, a non-playoff team trading away their next two firsts (unprotected) didn't exactly seem to have good idea written all over it.

That definitely didn't help. I just didn't like the risk because they didn't seem good enough to begin with. The traded away assets were also going to be even younger than Kessel. A team that makes such a trade either isn't rebuilding or shouldn't be.
Kessel was considered a future superstar and franchise player at the time
The Kadri trade was not instantly bad; it was a significant Leafs win in value at the time, ad it's arguably still a decent trade with hindsight. Many others were both instantly bad and bad with time. The Kadri deal was instantly bad, the others took time...
It was more of a flop because Raycroft wasn't mentally strong enough to play in this league. Rask was always going to be a good goalie, but the idea was to pay a higher ceiling for an immediate need.at time the Rask deal was in the leafs favor but turned out to bad because Rask becomes a HOF goalie
Stempniak was pretty terrible the second it happened. We got the second worst forward in the deal and the player with the lowest ceilingThe Kadri deal was instantly bad, the others took time...
He did good, but he didn't develop into that the dominate player that could immediately lift a team into playoff contentionI think he fared really well here. My gripe was with the quality of team he was being added to. In turn, that ended up affecting the placement of the draft picks traded away.

im hoping for edmonton they will than be tied in points with the leafs with 3 more games played than the leafs, and Winnipeg will be 2 points behind the leafs with the same amount of games playedWho do we want to win tonight between EDM and WPG?
edit: on second thought, i dont give a damn lol. just no 3 pointers.
Don't care, just want us to play good enough that it doesn't matterWho do we want to win tonight between EDM and WPG?

I'd argue Phil played better than most ever expected him to, the big problem was how bad that team played in the first year Komisarek was terrible, Beauchemim never quite settled and our goaltending was brutal.Phil fared about as well as one would expect on a team that had no #1C for him to play with and where he was the only elite piece
Of course you can, and even more-so at the time of the trade. Kadri's raw production since joining Colorado has been inflated by his 4 minutes of PP time per game.you cant compare kadri and Kerfoot
and Kefoot has played half the time with nylander and TavaresOf course you can, and even more-so at the time of the trade. Kadri's raw production since joining Colorado has been inflated by his 4 minutes of PP time per game.
has just about locked up another mvpConnor McDavid is so good lol
yup . scarry and kerfoot for a good center were such good deals.Lmao, that's not even remotely true.
