Who says no?

To NYR: Eichel
To BUF: Lafreniere, Kakko, DeAngelo

Maybe a bit of both, but probably Buffalo to the greater extent. That could be an impressive haul for Buffalo's future. Still, signing Taylor Hall to even that one year deal would seem to suggest wanting to do something now. NYR obviously moved up fairly significantly in selecting Lafreniere and even Kakko. This might be them sacrificing too much in the way of "futures" though even to be able to add an Eichel.

I don't think buf can afford to trade Eichel just for lafreniere.

Though how often are recent 1st overalls still on their ELC moved?

Id think the rare opportunity to get a (potentially) similar asset with a much better contract/age situation could sway them even if they may want more

Phili and Pittsburgh are breathing down Boston's neck. Another bad Boston week and they will be outside looking in.

Too bad their game are not 3 pointers

You think Buffalo would give up Eichel for just DeAngelo and Laf???

Not a chance, Menz.

I dont think another team is going to be able to offer a single blue-chip asset as valuable as Laf: we're talking about last drafts 1st overall.

If the Sabres trade Eichel theyre looking to do another rebuild/retool. So the younger assets they can get the better.

The Oilers looked a lot better tonight than they did last week. McDavid showed up and tabbed up 3 points, including the game winner late in the third. Can anybody remember what it's like to see our top line win a game for us? lol

Food for thought: (as of March 7th, 2021)

The Atlantic Div of old vs this year pandemic results based on points% to adjust for games played.

1) Tampa Bay .... 22 games & 34 points = .773 winning points % X 82 games = 127 point pace
2) Florida ............. 23 games & 34 points = .739 winning points % X 82 games = 121 point pace
3) Toronto ........... 26 games & 38 points = .731 winning points % X 82 games = 120 point pace
4) Boston ............ 21 games & 29 points = .690 winning points % X 82 games = 113 point pace

This would be quite a dogfight battle among the top 4 former Atlantic Div.

The winning % might be lower for all if they were playing each other, however they would also be beating up on OTT, BUF and Detroit also.

The Sabres remind me too much of the 2006-2015 Leafs for me to get any schadenfreude out of it, it's just getting kinda sad. What that organization does to its fans is considered manslaughter in 37 states.
